working at the time seen my purchase and before I even got home to listen to it he wanted a lend of it, trading me with a copy of Music Has the Right to Children that he had on him. Have to say I was reluctant at 1st trading but after listening I was hooked and have been ever since. Funny tho I never got round to listening to that Aphex Twin cd untill about 6 months later

when i was about 12, i used to watch david firth's cartoons a lot (yeah salad fingers, he has others too and he uses their music in many of them). i was always fond of the music and always noticed the credit given to BoC and Aphex Twin but didn't actually take the time to hear more of their stuff until i was probably around 14 or 15.

same deal here. actually I thought it was nice but just kind of forgot about it until one of my friends, steve, was like "hey here's an album you should listen to", and i did, and now some(!) years later i am a full blown nerd with a serious problem.

anyway, official welcome to you both.

Hello all!

I've been a BoC fan since the first airing of Edgar Wright's fantastic series, Spaced (1999). Apart from being funny and fresh, with more film references than is humanly possible to absorb on first viewing, the music throughout the series was amazing. This led me to research much of the music used in each episode. Rue The Whirl was used in one episode, so I went out and bought the album.

As with much of their stuff, it took a little while to adjust to something so different to what I was used to listening to, but once I got to grips with it, that was it!

Having grown up in the 70's, MHTRTC's cover art just reminded me of the soft focus family photos from that era, as well as the flares! The album reminds me so much of my childhood, and has become one of my top five albums of all time.

There's a few things I like about their music. There's very few albums you can listen to over and over again and still find something new in them, whether it is an instrument, a sample, or a bit of dialogue. There are some tracks I didn't even realise had dialogue until I found the 'lyrics' for them! This can make putting their music on exciting, as you never know what you're going to discover. On the face of it, and to the untrained ear, it can all sound quite 'samey' and repetitive, but it just stuns me sometimes just how deep these albums are - not just in their musical and dialogue content, but also in their meanings, and the large part that numbers play too. Geogaddi is a detail fest - after reading the meanings/samples, dialogue etc on BoC Pages and also a blog that some guy did, my mind was well and truly blown! Amazing stuff.

Anyway, I hope to engage in plenty of discussion about BoC around here, because no one else seems to want to listen to me! I did play a few tracks from MHTRTC in store on Record Store day, which ended up in someone who had never even heard of BoC buying Geogaddi on vinyl. Hopefully he'll be popping back in this week so I'll ask him how he got on with it. I just wish it was easy to get people into BoC - it seems to be an uphill struggle! I think I might have to host a BoC Appreciation Day and invite fans (and curious parties) to come and listen to and discuss the albums...

Hi there!
Been a BoC fan since MHTRTC came out, having been into the Warp/Rephlex sort of thing previously.
Favourites beside BoC are Cocteau Twins, Eno/Budd, Big Star, Aphex Twin, Joy Division, Teenage Fanclub, The Posies, Slowdive, Nick Drake, The Chameleons, etc.
For fun I play guitar and noodle around with synths. When not doing that, I like to get out into the countryside and immerse myself in nature.
I used to be a laser engineer (hence the name) but now make effect pedals for a living.

So... I've been lurking around for over a year since I first discovered Boards of Canada. Since then my interest in them grew exponentially and learned almost everything that can be learned about them from the "internets" while trying to come up with various explanations about hidden messages, possible names for some of the Random 35 Tracks Tape songs and other theories I have about them and their pre-Twoism releases which interest me the most since I'm convinced that the songs in their known early releases may very well be the best music they ever made. So... yeah glad to finally make an account and weigh in on the various discussions you have about their work.

It's time to introduce myself formally me thinks!

I am Nathan, pleasure to meet you.

I am 30, a man, and have been a member here for over a year now but was one of those lurk in the shadow types. I felt after a few years of reading that it was time i joined in on the fun and contributed somewhat haha.

I live in Australia which is cool. I have travelled over Europe and spent some time in many beautiful and mind blowing places, learning, creating sounds and getting more inspiration for thy music. I recorded the sound a ferris wheel in a abandoned amusement park on the outskirts of berlin in the forest basically. The wind was making the ferris wheel turn real slow and it was making this screeching noise that I just had to have so i recorded it. Then got found and chased and I have never launched over a fence so fast in my life.haha gooood times! The Netherlands was my favourite place.

I love music and art and have been making music and art for much years. 2012-2013 I went through some bad shit and it was Boards that completely turned my world on its axis. i had always loved their music, but it took tragedy to hook it up to my rainbow vein and send me on my journey:) BOC are the top of the music food chain for me.

Down here not many peeps I know like BOC, but i kinda like being that guy that can spread the word as needed. Good to see a few auslanders kicking on here though, we should have our own twoism adventures/meetups down here!

I was the store manager of a huge music shoppe but got out of the game recently to focus on my music. I guess wanted to scale back the work responsibility and get a job that i can autopilot for cash to fund the music side of things. Story of everyones life haha!

There is good people here and that is rad.
