I'm going to listen to Geogaddi and pretend it's the new album and that I'm hearing it for the first time.

This exactly. I listened to 84 Pontiac Dream on headphones the other night and heard some hi-hat beats I'd never heard before, adding yet another layer to a wonderful song. It was like listening to it the first time all over agian.

Tool is pretentious?

Coming from a member of a forum created in support of a band that doesn't tell anyone if/what they're working on for 5 years and then has a black square put up, toying at people for three months, and Tool, which has performed recently and kept people somewhat up to date is pretentious??
Okay...now...wait for fog machine.

I feel I understand What Kinski Means; Tool's albums are pretentious in a way WHEN THEY NEED TO DELIVER a VERY HIGH standard of quality in the songwriting/sound & image search/perfect math rock timing/etc. They work VERY HARD in that direction and it certainly don't come naturally :-) I know, I love the band ...

On another side, since we're all in it here for a long wait (like in an emergency waiting room), I share with you some GOOD moods to pass the habbit

1- Susumu Yokota\2001 Grinning Cat (Special Japanese ambiant)
2- Plaid\2001 Double Figure (I like That one)
3- DJ Spooky\1996 Songs Of A Dead Dreamer (Absolutely FANTASTIC)

I don't know exactly when this topic digressed and focused on Tool, but I have a special place in my heart for those lovely fuckers.

Has anyone tried Maynard's wine? I'm interested in picking up a bottle (or two), but they don't deliver during the summer season, and I'm not willing to drive to northern Arizona to try it! Or perhaps, I should?

I think you missed the point. I'd like to ask you WHY you think Tool makes pretentious albums.

I live about 45 to and hour from Jerome. I'm going to go down and try it out some time.

But yeah, let's not shift this topic to Tool.

I had a very vivid dream last night, and a first for me.....I was holdign the new Boards of Canada album and I heard the new tracks....the intro sounded happy and eerily similar to the intro to TCH....synth washes and bright sounding. Then there was a track that was hip hip-ish but had a lot of lyrics (that kinda threw me off a bit because I wasn't used to hearing full lyrics) (reminded me of alpha quest/trapped rmx/etc.), slightly faster than their normal tempos. Then there was another track that was quite strange sounding (gurgling beats and sounds), like a cross between Telephasic Workshop and Devil is in the Details. I woke up after that because I thought I actually had the album!!!

While I was dreaming I remember thinking that I was going to post this and that no one would believe that I heard it, so I was going to be mocked. That would be strange if we get the album and the songs sound just like I heard them!

Someone needs to invent technology that allows you to rip tracks from an album you have in a computer you are using while you're sleeping and upload them to mediafire, so then that way you can re-download them when you're awake. Then you have Boards of Canada - The Connotational Helidioscoprouso.

Or whatever it's called.

That would be awesome, because they were very cool sounding, we just assemble our own BoC albums, hmmm BoC has suddenly become prolific!
I'm a musician and I NEVER EVER hear music in my dreams (for some reason). We need those tracks! hahahaha

it's just pompous, pseudo-intlelligent music that tricks people into thinking that long songs with lots of vocalizations, odd time signatures and general 'style over substance' thing is just superb. it's muse for people who gratuated high school. it screams the exaltation of middle-class kids that like tot think about themselves as 'musically educated' but in fact know nothing about anything and are as casual to music as twilight series fans are to literature.

let me guess- you're now going to disagree with all of this.

win? no?

I'm not going to disagree with all of what you say, and I have no idea where "win" came from. I agree that there's a lot of "HEY MAN, I'M STILL MOSTLY A BRATTY TEENAGER BUT I LISTEN TO TOOL SO THAT MAKES ME SMART AND SHIT" and understand most of what you're saying, although I do disagree with the music being shit or "pseudo-intlelligent" and happen to really enjoy Tool. I am not some pompous teenage brat who makes spice all day, so that breaks that stereotype. You are generalizing Tool listeners very heavily, and your ending comments, especially pertaining to the "Twilight and literature" thing make you look extremely pretentious, in a very hypocritical fashion regarding your original post. Other than all those things being opinions, and what dictates something vague like art or fine literature is totally a point of view, your pompous and cocky attitude greatly hinders any potential meaning, underlying message or style you're possibly trying to perpetuate.

1.9 out of 10 for Kinski, says Pitchfork Media.
one and a half stars out of five for Kinski, says The Guardian
three out of six tacos, says the daily Rodheh

"win? no?"
