Wait, is someone hating on boc? or does being a boc fan mean that we can only be in love with everything they put out? there is no room for opinions?

I think Mexicola is perfectly capable with moderating without being told how he should regulate any given thread...backseat moderators...sheesh

Yikes. Everyone calm down, there is a enough stress in our lives. If you don't like someone's opinion (and god knows I disagree with people quite frequently), it has little bearing on your life unless we are talking politics. You can hash it out with someone of course, unexamined opinions are rarely useful; But I have been led to expect a certain civility from this forum, don't know about you guys. It particularly surprises me when veiled insults are thrown around for no good reason.

Of course people can have their opinions and express them however they want, which is what I did. It just seems like there is an over excessive amount of negativity by some people, along with whimsical ramblings. And for a forum that I like so much, I would like to filter it out. Just my (apparently controversial) opinion.

Do you need a hug?

Expressing a negative opinion is ok. Repeatedly banging on about it on a more than daily basis is tiresome.

Lock this bitch.

Veiled Insults,No surely not. :D

I am happy to Listen to Other peoples opinions and Judgements.
I don't like when someone comes on has a pop at the people in discussion and they don't even get involved in it .
why not post " why waste time arguing". If you don't like our discussion just put up" isn't it time we changed the subject" although you will more than likely get an opinion straight back.

I mean "whimsical Ramblings" we can say what we want yes?
Filter it out- Censorship?

Yes lets get a filter, ok and all that will happen is that we will filter each other out when we don't agree . Super, then what have we got no discussion whatsoever . As Capt Mainwaring or Basil Fawlty said This is the sort of thing started in Nazi Germany :D
JUST JOKING

Oh and by the way I love Everything by BOC and I think Tomorrows Harvest is Brilliant.
I don't care what anybody else says
Right I hope its back up and running again with that comment, no need for any shut down. Yeh MEX ?

It is pretty naive to think that people on a BOC fan forum are here to see people piss and moan about them.

People have the right to express a negative opinion about BOC here. But remember it enriches next to NOBODY who reads it. People may feel better for getting something off their chest, but somebody else secretly hates you for it, as you are probably hating the thing they hold dear. No one wins. So why bother?

People are probably better off exercising their right to keep quiet.

The title of this thread always suggested that this wasn't going to end well.

Just like 'TH Good or Bad?' won't either.

People aren't here to read about what BOC are bad at, regardless of anybody's opinion.

You can't be sure of that I'm afraid. BOC are not perfect, like any humans they deserve criticism and many of us are OK with that. Yes, we are fanatics and we love this band to death, but many of us here my self included take no issue whatsoever with contrasting opinions on their work. You'll notice that I replied in a agreement to mexi's post on the other thread, but not because I don't welcome the idea, but because like this one I fear it will descend into petty insults. People on both sides seem to be firing those off at each other and it makes me a bit sad.

"But remember it enriches next to NOBODY who reads it. "

I respectfully disagree. People aren't born with a taste in music, they learn and adapt at all ages, and criticism is a fundamental part of developing taste along with predisposed leanings. I can heartily say that I have found my self agreeing with a certain proportion of the statements made by Naj and Rod, even though on a more general level I differ from them. Some of the things they have said I had not thought of in the same perspective, and that has certainly enriched my own views.

BOC particularly lend themselves to insightful criticism because as we all know their music is highly intellectual and they themselves appear to be intelligent.

My point is, I don't dislike anyone here for what they have said. We are a smart and unique bunch of people, certainly smart enough to recognise what we vehemently disagree with, and if we reminded ourselves once in a while that we are surprisingly gifted in that ability we would foster a less nasty environment in this thread without censoring ourselves.

No. We had this feature, but the users overwhelming said they did not want this and that it was against what twoism is all about. I was the first person to object and my opinion has not changed.

You should feel bad.

Personally, I like TH. It gets its cold and soulless feeling across very well, which contributes to the theme of the album.

Am I the only one here who thinks TH is a masterpiece? Or do you all really hate it that much and think it's soulless? Not that your opinions should change of course, i'm just completely shocked that people who like TH seem to be outcasts in this thread.

Not enjoy things, music albums by the band which you enjoy, is very controversial? I don't think so. Also I don't see much hate in any comments here and some people arguments just put a smile on my face

controversial opinion...

though awesome, i think an element of the band was lost when Chris left BoC. did the beats leave with him?

the cool percussive elements seem to have fallen away. Music and Geo still have awesome percussion, but ive always wondered if those albums were collections of tunes they had done in the past, gone back an polished up for release. like Maxima to Music.

and as time went on and the old tunes leaked out....the back catalogue of potential release candidates was used up.

true or false....BRING BACK THE MAD BEATS. that shit was so sick!
Korona, XYZ, Pete Standing Alone, Telephasic Werkshop, Orange Romeda, Unknown Live Track 7 Lighthouse, Basefree, Old Tunes 1 track 31, Unknown Live Track 7 All Tomorrows among others.
none of the stuff post Geo has those kind of percussion.

been super hesitant to post this thought, as i dont want to talk shit on them as all the stuff is awesome. i just miss those beats!

Just for the record, I only blame people who insult me for making my days worse

Didn't Christ. leave the band pre-Twoism?

Wikipedia says....

In fact, credited as Chris H., he was an early participant in the nebulous Hexagon Sun collective from which Boards of Canada emerged, and was a collaborator with the group until approximately 1995. He appeared on the Twoism album, reissued by Warp in 2002.[1]

On the 2002 reissue, wasn't his name omitted from the credits? From what I gather, we don't know just how much he was involved in the Twoism e.p.

If he was a full time member of the band and participated in all the tracks on Twoism, surely his named wouldnt have been omitted on the re-release?

From a Christ. Interview:

I wanted to ask you about the early times in the nebulous Hexagon Sun collective, since you were featured on the legendary Old Tunes saga, I'd like to know what kind of inputs or collaborations have you made on those recordings.
Christ: Honestly, I wouldn’t normally answer this question. But I feel the need to as it’s been nearly two decades since I participated with either Marcus or Mike in anything musical. I was in a band for a while with some extremely talented schoolfriends. We did some cool stuff, we parted ways. It’s really that simple.

By the sounds of it, I think the main chunk of stuff done with Chris was during the old tunes saga or rather, mainly pre-twoism.

But what the feck do I know.
