how much longer can i call boards of canada one of my favorite bands when i can't even listen to them anymore because it drives me insane that there hasn't been a new release after so many years of desperately waiting?

so you mean to tell me that people cant call pink floyd their favorite band because they wont be releasing more music?

you are one of those people who think that BOC owe you something. just the fact that you said you are desperately waiting shows me how much fun your life must be.

i dont mean to attack you, but i get disgusted when i see people think the band owes them something. when they dont.

i listened to this kid do a review on the campfire headphase. and he made the comment that maybe BOC are taking so long for a follow up is because they feel they have reached their artistic pinnacle with The Campfire Headphase.

i believe that hits the nail on the head. i dont see how an album can be more complete than the campfire headphase, from beginning to end it seems to carry an overall message/memory, and i feel as though they captured the feelings and emotions perfectly.

it must be tough to follow up something you spent your whole musical career building towards. it would be like spending your whole life trying to build a home, then once you've finally built it exactly how you imagined, you arent sure where to go from there.

im not saying this is the case. i am simply a fan with an opinion and i have no idea what is going through BOC's heads. but, in my humble opinion, the campfire headphase might be the most complete record i have ever heard, as far as trying to portray a memory or emotion goes.

Edit*

i guess to further push this idea. i remember an interview with BOC in which they stated they were trying to finish their career by making the perfect record, an album which would define all their work and complete their discography. maybe they felt as though they did that, and were not sure which direction to go after doing so.

sorry for babbling, in the long run, i really have no idea and these are all just guesses.

I listened to the broadcast, he talked a lot about BoC's background and even brought up the Pitchfork interview regarding them being actually brothers and that he also gave a shout out to Mike and Marcus asking them whats next. Overall it was great listening to a superb album near midnight before headin to bed.

Hopefully this will grab their attention.. :P

(First post! Yay! Hello everyone! Yes, I've been a lurker for that long..)

Thom Yorke said the same about OK Computer. They knew they could not beat it, or make a guitar heavy album ever as good, so he knew for the next album a radical change in sound and direction was needed, hence KID A

I've been a lurker for a long time before I started posting as well. I think that because of the wait for the new album more and more lurkers are coming out of the shadows now.

There is nothing to suggest it will be this year.

No, but if I keep believing "this is the year" eventually, I'll be right. Unless I'm not.

I got this weird feeling the other day that came over me. The feeling was that I didn't even want a new album to come out. Weird I know. Fucked up. Not sure what happened there. I think I just got scared it would be a disappointment.

Can you imagine actually sitting down and listening to the new record (should there ever be one).

My god, my nerves will be in shreds lol.
