I've done Reach For The Dead, I like the feel it gives the video, the old tube is bad with colors and needs a lot of exposure for it to capture the image or else its very faint, so I had to ramp up the contrast and the white balance is quite messy, if I do the normal white balance I don't get much colors so I have to ramp up the reds with the little knob on my camera but it seems to give out a lot of red noise too because I had to put it to a 6db boost, I might change the tube one day If I find out how, its a quite complex task ...phpBB [media]

Always welcome constructive criticism or suggestions. I'm still a novice with producing electronic music.

As an aside, has anyone done a DIY cassette release? Any tips/pointers? I'm planning a very low run but part of me thinks the cost and effort may be best avoided this early on...

How did the cassette run go??
I like the style dude! Sounds similar to what I have been doing!
Very droney.... what equipment do you use?
I may pick up one of your cassettes if you still have any available.
My cassette runs sold out immediately with my band Kevlar. I master from reel to reel and analog summing to high speed cassette master then to short run.

I'm waiting for my custom loaded tapes and cases now. Working on the j card art and getting a good master file ready for dubbing. Haven't sold any yet, so there's still some available! Any support would be appreciated.
That's awesome your run sold out quickly. Hoping I get some traction when I have a sample to show.
Equipment wise right now I'm using a Volca keys & keystep, and a few softsynths. I was using a Casio H700 but it's died on me. I don't have a big gear collection beyond that. A sampler, my Midiverb II, various VCR, tape decks etc. I'm working on getting some hardware synths in the coming months; got a Pro 1 pre-ordered.
I'd love to get reel to reel but they're so hard to find without paying an unreasonable amount, or taking a gamble on something off Goodwill. Someday when I have some excess cash.
Thank you for listening tho, I appreciate the comments!TheStatPow wrote:burst__of__indigo wrote:Just wrapped my first release last weekend. I "rebranded" for lack of a better term. Thank you for listening! Rt 26 was one of the last songs I was working on and I'm particularly happy with the drums. I had to think a bit different differently, having played drums for many years, about how to write them without a kit.

I posted a few soundcloud embeds on a few ambient and boc groups on facebook and twitter along with my cassette images and that is what really got them sold. Some got sold on the analog recording and cassette groups and surprisingly many older folk wanted them and bought them and now my customer base expanded from youngsters to older folks.... a few said it reminded them of when they used to make and buy Pink Floyd tapes and the like.... it was a little surreal actually haha
