Until this point I was having mild insults thrown at me every few days, I feel like I should rise above it.
I went on the bus today to escape my town (just for a few hours), literal milliseconds after after I was dropped off at my stop from the journey back I had slurs shouted at me from across the street. F*ggot f*cker, P*do.
I can't stand it, this is the first time I have been called the first one, which honestly came as a complete shock. Just because I was standing on a isolated spot and there was little people around. Luckily though I faced their back walking insults with a blank, mouth-closed expression. Showing no emotion. Any would likely cause more bother. Gave 'em nothing.
I don't feel like there is much of an upside from this point forward apart from my reaction.
For the past few months, apart from odd occasions, I've been feeling very isolated with no-one to talk to, those that do mostly piss take.
Angry? Not particularly. Just feeling small and wondering how this could escalate. I certainly don't know them, but my appearance is a running joke in this town. I've been belittled by those my age for it. Quirky mannerisms, it's no surprise that I do stand out a mile to them.
It's true, I am feeling low. It's not bad, but this instance has me feeling detached. Not exactly wanting to go for a walk, nor outside right now.

At the risk of butting into a conversation I have no part in, what did you mean by that? I do that a lot myself.Jonse wrote:I'm sorry you're feeling down but I'm slightly confused here.

The pandemic really effed everything up for me, I was doing so well, getting out there, meeting people. Joining events and clubs. The past 18 months or so, I haven't made much of an effort to return to that progress.

A lot of that stuff has heavy financial backing to begin with. Like all tools, it's just a tool, but whenever the coinage comes into the equation, any ethics and morals fly out the window faster than a Russian politician. Most of that meme-ish behaviour really only seemed novel when it all still looked like garbage attempts at image construction.Orbited insanitarium wrote:rodox_head wrote:I really hate AI art and really wish it would fade away. I'm in agreeance mostly with this. In the context of reddit or twitter posts where the image promt was just "US Senate made out of bread" or "I put in Olson into deepdream and this is what came out"<--- that, in this case really peeves me. It seems just for shits n giggles, and if you look at a program like Dall-E 2, from that you get stupidly realistic results. (Companies behind them must be raking in millions, too widespread on social media not to. Just a thought.)
But people creating album artwork from this, is tricky and sticky. Folks like mechanismj on this forum professionally use AI to generate covers for their music (being thriftwicker audio society), it still feeds the program but at least it's being put to better use. I really like that when the purpose is for a project.
Yet the way it's most commonly used now takes away a LOT of creativity. It actually bothers me as much as it bothers you. Is it now the norm for AI to be the second best thing next to imagination? Is it damaging artistic integrity? That would really sadden me.
I don't know what the percentage is for people who use it for entertainment and/or mocking purposes.... I'd a-thunk it to be pretty high.
You can't convince me that Skynet isn't already here!
(Hey, bright-side! I mostly just use artificial intelligence increase an image resolution, which is not often as my artwork is the original source so there's no upscaling necessary.)

Album art is a bit of a "Wild West" pocket of artistic expression, or at least it has the potential to be, since it leans into the symbiotic nature of art. It makes you think of the sounds, atmosphere, performers, messages, and finally the emotional connection of the audience. I don't necessarily oppose it's usage as a single ingredient amongst a myriad of others if it lines with the mindset the artist wants to convey.
Art tends to be treated more like a product or commodity rather than anything that means anything, so it doesn't surprise me that something like this would receive such a boost amongst those outside the hobby. I don't know about you, but I'm dogshit-tired of all the illustrations of big-tiddy anime girls, fantasy settings (that may or may not include big-tiddy anime girls), furry porn, crudely sketched comics, non expansive fan art of existing properties (which may or may not include big-tiddy anime girls), and the fucking endless sea of wojacks and other nihilistic and self righteous memery as the only modicums of art in existence currently.phpBB [media]phpBB [media]
