Orbited insanitarium wrote:Right here we go, this is a bizarre rant. Robbie ‘BASTARD’ Williams. His albums are EVERYWHERE! And I mean everywhere. Take Poundland As an example. They have their own dedicated section of CD’s to him, I go into my local poundshop and there waiting for me, rubbing it in my face......is 17 copies of his album ‘intensive care’ 17!!!! Also when I go into ANY charity shop (cause I go round them every morning) I see his albums taking up valuable space for the CD’s I’m hunting for. I have an image in my mind of a few of the albums I’m hoping to find (squarepusher, tindersticks, the flaming lips, Genesis) but I never see them. Why?
Robbie ‘ARSEBOARDING’ Williams!!
I tell you after reading this thread, I can see people get a lot more angry than me, so I thought I’d bring my ‘shouty inner monologue’ to the table.
Is it just me that goes round charity shops for albums and gets peeved at seeing the same ones constantly everyday? (Probably)
Oxfam have dedicated music charity shops in Manchester (Chorlton is the best one...I bagged a mint copy of Frank De Wulf "The Tape" on 12inch from there!)
I used to hang around with a lad from Stoke on Trent who I used buy my herbs from and occassionally go to his house and he was 2 school years below Robbie Williams at high School, told me he was bullied by him (I could easily believe it too!)
Charity shop near me (Benardos) used to sell home/pre recorded cassettes I would buy them for the cassette (esp type2s) and they would have something abominable like Tina Turner live on them, but they stopped selling them due to copyright issues (or so they said...)..I suspect people were finding pornography on the recordable unlabeled vhs tapes they were also selling and banned their sale along with the cassettes they prob came with?..to avoid prosecution for corrupting minors (good call).
Best CD I ever found in a chazzer shop was John Came - Rhythmicon 1995
Paid £1 for it.
Also recently bagged 7 SEALED x1 speed Phillips DVD Rw discs for £2!!!
Best places for cassettes and genuine cds... delve in and sift sessions... Are Ashton under Lyne (bagged some rare cassette demos/band recording from mid 90s when everyone wanted to be oasis or blur lol) and Smithfield Sunday Flea Market in Manchester...legendary place...last time I went there I found a complete collection of abandoned artist demos from what looked like a music venue office clearout, cassette and cds...the guy wasnt bothered about them whatsoever...pitched low...I offered and he accepted...lol Paid a £5er and the time before that I found a collection of American Jazz 12s (some were rare for sure!) and a box I rummaged in had loads of PC utility discs mixed in with personal cracked programmes....including ALL the "rave Ejay" programmes...the Phats and Small disc is ace!
