And for me the only filmmaker that ever came close to actually recreating the experience of dreaming, or the wonder of seeing the world as a child.

Was only a few week ago I watched Blue Velvet again. Rest in peace.

I may not have seen any of his movies, but I think his influence on the Silent Hill series is enough to say that he's tangentially left a mark on me.

I feel like I've been walking through a fog all day and I've played the album he released with Chrystalbell last year four times today. I can't count how many aspects of me wouldn't have been found if it weren't for the impact his art had on me.

not a fan, but some old films make a huge impact on my taste back in my student years, especially Blue Velvet. Also was nrver a fan of the original Twin Peaks, but warched the 3rd season and enjoyed it a bit. He was a unique individual that's for sure, and quite far off the mainstream media as you imagine. We need more creators like him in cinema.

He was committed to the life of an artist, which I have a deep respect for, but he was even more committed to smoking, which I can’t understand. I thank him for his work and hope his family will be okay.

RIP to a real one. He seemed like a true artist in every sense of the word.

I'm in the fortunate position of still being unfamiliar with many of his films, so I have more gems to discover, but what I will say is that everything I've seen has totally floored me, and Twin Peaks is easily my favourite TV show of all time.

I'm re-reading House of Leaves at the moment and that was one of my first thoughts when he died....well a TV series actually. The Southern Reach novels sprung to mind too.

'Something in the Dirt' is the only film I've seen that's comes close to a proper House of Leaves feel. Would love anyone to give it a go, to be honest.

We watched Mulholland Drive again last week after the news, it's a masterpiece.
