Quite strange. The clap sound bothers me, though.

What do you guys think of the mix on this track? I'm really happy with the music, and having all non-drum sounds synthesized from scratch, but I'm not quite sure if I positioned the primary pad sound so that everything can breath. I'd love to hear any suggestions.

Also, that latest 88marquis track really caught my ear :) I need to catch up on my homework in this thread.

Your mixing job is very well done, what did you use to develop these sounds? (software and/or hardware)? Everything comes together nicely however I'm not used to the types of sounds that are being used, let me know where they came from though I'm curious!

Wyn! Your pads are sounding better than ever, what are you working with as far as synths/software? Your percussion is coming along too - are you interested in tossing a few files back and forth? If so let me know, otherwise if you're busy and what not that's totally cool.

Thanks for the feedback and kind words! I'm running Ableton and the drums are just a kit I put together using the included samples, and I've been using it a fair bit in the last month or two since I finally had a breakthrough on how to create what I think of as true 'four-limbed' drum parts. It also helps keep the creativity flowing to just load up a kit and translate the beat that comes to me rather than taking an hour to audition audio samples and losing the idea.

The synth sounds I created in Vanguard (bass and main lead) and Albino (pad and bell-like lead). In the middle I layered the two leads together and took advantage of them having different panning characteristics. I'd be happy to share in detail about any of them, and am excited to find that they caught someone's ear :) I feel that the bell-like lead is the first really strong and distinct one I've made. I created it a few weeks ago for a more straightforward melodic track -

Well nice job with the mixing, I've yet to be able to mix in voice samples with success... A few of your tracks give me the middle eastern 'vibe' if you will - and I love that style, just can't pull it off! Feel free to send me anything you have man, I love hearing what people are up to.

I finished a track today that I started a few days ago, well the initial mix at least. There's a vocal sample I created that worked great, and I managed to figure out a beat in 9/4 meter that occurred by accident but came to make the track what it is -

Just got to listening to 'Drenched' - sounding great. Where do you find such great samples for the percussion? Do you do it yourself? Wasn't ready for it to end! :)

Chilled out - I like it. Would be interested to see where you take a B section.

I listened to that new one Bryan, that voice sample sounds superb - where did it come from?

Thanks for checking out my works as well!

I've got another in progress, started last night and I've been messing with the percussion all day.. Hope I didn't overdue it!

also, its 'untitled2' on my player if you prefer the stream

EDIT: I'm gonna put up a new one of the same track soon, it was a bit noisy and there was a bit much feed back, also brought the percussion forward and tuned it up!

Dude, the atmosphere on this one is great! Reminds me of Secede in the best way. While I feel to some degree that I have pretty good musical instincts, its that fullness and richness of sound that I know I need a lot of work on. Are those sounds something you've sampled or created with a synth?

The percussion sounds really good - the kind of rhythmic lines that make sense once you get them right but often takes time to sculpt.

That's me sampling my own voice :) There's some hopefully subtle pitch correction going on but I've also sang in choir before and done a lot of work on vocal improvisation.
