Here is a track that I'm working on, comments appreciated.

Been on this forum about 6 years, but this is the first track I've posted here. Been making electronic music for a good while now.

Hey Dave_From_2001. Thanks for the comment. This is the haz from long ago and those are real voices (all mine :-). You still making tunes? I sure hope so.

More of these types of numbers on the myspace.

Cheers
haz.

Hey guys,

My brother was clearing out some of his stuff in his room. He found an old tape that he'd recorded some guitar onto when he was about 14, so by now it was realy distorted and dirty.

He sent me the recording and I did a quick remix for him:

Well those SE-205's aren't that awesome, but my brother's girlfriend was kind enough to let me borrow her Bose headphones for a little while.. Trying quite a few things with my percussion, also some synth work other then the microKorg!

Unfinished of course

I made a new tune today. I'm still just trying out some crazy shit with my reel-to-reel.
Wonky style this time.

Wonky indeed! Although I did enjoy the listen. How exactly do you go about the 'reel-to-reel'? Do you put the track together before you process it? I'm quite curious!

Very nice man, definitely let me know when you get further on this - Maybe later I'll have to toss up what I've got so far for Pete Standing Alone.

Thanks for taking the time to listen dude, its apreciated.

I was just experimenting with tape saturation and compression on this track realy. I have an soundcard with 10ins and 10outs so I just hook my real-to-reel up with its line inputs and outputs. I then route all my tracks in ableton threw the reel to reel like a giant insert effect before a simple limiter on the output.

I should mention that I route threw the reel-to-reel while im in the process of creating a tune. Almost from the begining to the end, it lets me overdrive it when I want and gives me more control over the way it colours the sound. If I applied it to a finished track then the distortions in the track would be out of my control (sometimes cool, but not always.)

On this track I was recording on 1/4 inch tape at 7 1/2 ips. The kick and bass were running threw it at about +5db with everything else much lower. From what I read, when the tape is overdriven is has some non linear effects so it acts like a saturator and a compressor. I just wanted to hear what it sounded like. TBH, I think I like the sound of the machines preamps being overdriven more than the tape itself, so I mostly use the reel-to-reel in monitor mode (it bypasses the tape).

I finished that tune, its now full length and sounds way better. Let me know what you think. Its like 6:43 now. Then ending moments are my favourite of all the songs I have made:

Skywave - In Fragments - 320kbps mp3:

There are also some embedded Binaural Effects and Just Percevable Distortion in the track of rainfall, water lapping and street sweeping.
