Beautiful piece! This coming from an ambient lover however. But yeah, it's pretty awesome.

This is really beautiful man. I enjoyed this completely.. I'd love to see you continue Bleak Black Branches. Are you using a different production technique or approaching it in a different way?

Once I find software to convert wavs to mp3 I'll hopefully be putting up some samples of what I've been doing the past few months.

OOOOOooooo! Eager to hear new 88Marquis!

BTW I use Sonic Foundry's Sound Forge to convert my WAVs to MP3s. It's a pretty good program that does a hell of a lot.

I'll have to check that out, thanks man. Apparently Soundcloud automatically converts files after you upload them, so for now I guess that'll work. Just put up a 2 minute work in progress - seems to sound fine in headphones for me.

Just a demo, if you wanna call it that.

Nice bro, I don't know if I would take it much further to be quite honest. To me, this sounds like one of those minimal tracks that kind of floats between two other tracks if you know what I mean. I dig it. A lot actually.

New track preview from my forthcoming album "Snowy Psychoplasmics", some
melancholic melodic ambience. : )

Heya,

Earlier I was sample hunting in spotify and I stumbled across a sample used by "Washed Out".
This inspired me to try and reproduce some of his songs using this sample.

Some people may find this interesting so I thought I would share my results:

http://soundcloud.com/skywave/sets/wash ... al-samples

It turns out, like "Daft Punk", he samples disapointingly large sections of tunes.
He then sings over the top, adds some misc samples to break it up and produces it in the "Chillwave" style.

I still like his work though, he has a good ear for sampling and he has great vocals.

This isn't very good... at all, but regardless, I got bored one day and made all of these from scratch in Audacity, using a sample once or twice but breaking it down into something completely different.

as well as these a bit more polished dark ambient style stuff:

And this was made in FL Studios... I just thought the synth sounded exactly like a lawn mower being used outside of my house so I threw this together o_O http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/378515

these are not being released, they're from an EP that is a christmas gift from myself to a friend

http://soundcloud.com/borealnetwork/empty-plain-the-sky-forever

you can critique them if you want but just know that this is something i do solely for fun and therefore i don't hold myself to standards like what other people would want to hear at all, so if i like that it's distorted and the bass is out of key then that's how it's going to be and likewise with everything else, it's a very liberating experience and it reminds me of why i make music in the first place.

For the second one, I really love it all for the fact that I want to change that main melody for some reason... just something makes me want to add a lower key right after the higher one- but like you said, when it's just for you, it's what feels right for you and not me =P

But otherwise it's really great =]
