That's not possible. Radiohead aren't on a label whereas BoC are.

I remember downloading a leak of Campfire Headphase about a week before release and it turned out the be the album...

How is it not possible? What's stopping BoC or anybody else from asking the guys at Warp if they can do the same thing, with a download-only release shortly after the announcement, followed by a physical release a few months later? If they wanted to do it that way, they probably have enough clout with Warp to make it happen.

I suspect that this new album is going to be a major step forward technically, but I'm not sure. Will they still be using tape, old akai hardware samplers, analog synths, etc. or will they try something really different? Are they still avoiding computers and software for making music or have they decided to give it a chance?

If I remember correctly, they've only avoided working with computers at certain point(s) during their career. They've used software before.

I seem to remember reading and interview saying that with the campfire headphase they put everything together in logic. After the treatments and everything that they did of course, that would explain why it sounded a lot cleaner than their other albums.

How do you know? For all any of us can say for sure, "Dayvan Cowboy" could be comprised entirely of processed and looped samples of the Sandisons eating rutabagas.
Literally any of their songs from the past 10 or so years could be using software synths and/or effects. That you can't tell for sure one way or the other is why they're professionals.
