How do you know? For all any of us can say for sure, "Dayvan Cowboy" could be comprised entirely of processed and looped samples of the Sandisons eating rutabagas.
Literally any of their songs from the past 10 or so years could be using software synths and/or effects. That you can't tell for sure one way or the other is why they're professionals.
Just based on things they have said in interviews. They said they don't like VA synths and I think they do their sampling on hardware like the Akai S series. We know that most of their sound sources are acoustic instruments/sounds recorded onto tape and samplers along with their Roland SH-101 and a few other vintage electronic instruments. They have been critical of 'laptop musicians' who do everything on the computer. It's certainly possible that they have used some software instruments on their past records, but it doesn't really fit with their aesthetic or workflow.
Which brings me a somewhat outlying question, in any of the lyrics loops or voice sounds, is there in any way one that is one or both of the brothers speaking and using that in a song?
