they are def. releasing a new album soon. maybe june 9th

That would be pretty cheesy though wouldn't it? :P But would be a perfect release date, not too long to wait then. I fear it'll be announced soon but then won't come out until winter time.. Would be the longest summer ever.

I'm going to say: July 2011

Because that would make it roughly... *drum roll* 70 months since the last full album (TCH)

roughly of course, but...

grins like a maniac

Where do they live now? I guess I'd always assumed they still were around the Pentland Hills area.

No you're not. You're coming in and saying "face it, there's no new album" in the hope that it tempts mdg or someone out of being silent to say "yeah, there is". Because if you really believed there wasn't going to be a new album you wouldn't bother going onto a forum to talk about it, you'd just listen to something else.

as far as I know one lives in Asia now. The whole bunker thing up the pentlands was nonsense. they lived in Balerno/Colinton on a suburban housing estate.

The original website was registered to a house there. I'm not going stalking you might be able to find it yourself.

You don't know shit. No one really knows where they live, now go read another interview from 5 years ago.

dude you need to grow up. I'm from Edinburgh. Like it or not I do know shit. They used to drink in my local. If you'd rather live in a little fairyland and believe all the media crap surrounding them , feel free.

I'm not knocking them, I love their music. I'm just trying to put some kind of perspective on all the bullshit that gets written here.

And that gives you some sort of credibility? I guess you have their phone numbers too. Perhaps you could call em up and ask them when the new album is coming out? And while you're at it you should probably tell Mike to give you back that CD you let him borrow.

Please. Just because they used to "drink" in your "local" doesn't mean you know any more about them than the next guy. Get real.

I don't always agree with DP, but when I do. It's when he says stuff like this.

On a board purely about Boards of Canada, all we can do is stay optimistic, there isn't need for this.

Now wait a minuite guys, lets not flame him, there is actualy a lot of truth to what he says, even if his delivery was a little agressive.
The "bunker" was a nickname given to their studio by their friends, that was writen in an interview.
They did also say they lived in a community in the pentland hills area, that would place it somewhere around balerno (possibly as far as Colinton). I havent heard that about the website thing though so I cant comment on that.

There actualy was some kind of rumour about one of them living in Asia or having an Asian girlfriend or something. I cant remember if there was any credible source for either though.

While I dont agree with his idea that they will never release again, lets not give him a hard time for holding that view.

The website thing is true. Now, apart from that I dont know if you have ever heard of occams razor, go look it up. They lived in a wee house quite near the pentlands. Not a neo hippy collective, not some hobbit like bunker in the hills themselves (the land is mostly council owned) but a wee house.

Personally I dont think there will be another release. To go back to the beginning that was the only point I was really trying to make.

Dont like It ? Well boo hoo. Presuming we are all a little older than 12 I think you just respect it. 6 years is a long time between albums for anyone , its a very long time to not even give some sort of communication.

Happy Recycling.

Testament had Me wait a whole goddamn 9 years between The Gathering and The Formation of Damnation, so it's not like I'm going to lose faith just yet...

Was it worth the wait? Hell yes!

Try being a Kate Bush fan, if you think 6 years is a long time. ;) But it's not like we haven't had "some sort of communication" in that time, we've had plenty of communication via mdg, the last of which was a couple of months back.

I know it's hard to imagine but there are some people in the world who think the internet is a pointless waste of time full of arguing nerds, so choose not to involve themselves with it. (Something we're not doing the best job of disabusing anyone of here or on WATMM!) The Prodigy were another band that were really public about having this view for many years before finally engaging with the fanbase a couple of years back. I don't agree with them; but making music is one of those odd things.

Some people thrive on making it in an open, collective way, and will throw everything including their mistakes out into the public eye, talk endlessly about how and why they made things a particular way, and that can be cool. Some people make it in a vacuum and labour endlessly getting every last bit of it just so before finally releasing it. Some people make and release music constantly, under a bunch of different pseudonyms just to get it all out, some people take years between releases.

Just seems to me that if there's a black box in front of you you'd want to fill it with something nicer.

I like bubbles there so colourful and they float. I feel sad when they pop and go away. Bye Bubbles
A clearance in a wooded area, you startle a deer, it runs into the pines. Vast turquoise lakes and icy rivers, crisp mountain air. A bald eagle soars above. The distant sound of a chainsaw. Redwood smoke
