I have a strong psychic belief that the world will/ I mean that the Boards Of Canada album will be announced on August 30th
A clearance in a wooded area, you startle a deer, it runs into the pines. Vast turquoise lakes and icy rivers, crisp mountain air. A bald eagle soars above. The distant sound of a chainsaw. Redwood smoke

I'm sure glad I come to this site for music in general and not just BoC. That would be a fucking waste of time, wouldn't it?

EPIC FAIL:

"The final of our week-long MP3 give-aways, and we have saved something very special for this one. We are proud to present 2 exclusive tracks; one from Warp's Africa HiTech and one from Numbers' Deadboy.

The Africa HiTech track is an exclusive never-before-heard and likely never to be released track made on an iPhone no less, and only available as a free download from Bleep.com for 24 hours. Add on top of this, another exclusive track from the artist that released the first ever 12" on Glasgow's Numbers imprint - Deadboy. "

This is what I was expecting would happen, but damn if it doesn't suck to be a Boards of Canada fan sometimes.

"EPIC FAIL" is an understatement! I mean, Aphex is on the list, and they say "trust us; it's big," then they go on and on about Africa HiTech's iphone songs? Weak! I don't know if there is any way to properly express how lame that was of Bleep.

It'd be so great if tomorrow, Bleep sends us all a mail saying "it was a joke guys, of course a new Boards of Canada album is going to be released by September, you losers".

"Trust us, it's big." Ha.

At least I knew that their "big news" couldnt possibly have anything to do with BoC. So I'm not disappointed. Although I am happy with these free tracks.

I wonder at what incredible price this mp3 will go on ebay within 20 years.

And yeah made on an I phone? Congratulations! But call me if you make sound like Le Pétomane did.

any alternatives for bleep? I'm used to them and Boomkat but that's about it.

If you're going for CD's: Amazon.co.uk. Cheaper and always free delivery (even here in Holland).

I'm actually pretty angry about this. While I totally respect BOC for taking time with their art and maintaining their silence, I'm getting fed up to the back teeth with Warp, Bleep, etc playing on the hunger of BOC fans.

It's not that long ago that we were played for suckers with the ATP movie too. It's a cheap trick and the joke is starting to wear thin in my book. I'm not demanding anything except a bit of respect from those in the know.

No doubt they'll trot out some defence about 'we never mentioned BOC, you just filled the gaps in yourselves', but that's a pretty thin arguement in my book. They know full well that fans are hanging onto things like this in the absence of any real news.

To me, this is souring things needlessly. If nothing is happening, then fine. But please don't string us along. I don't think that's asking too much?

Yeah I'm done with the Bleep newsletter after today - unsubscribed. Not in a huff or anything, just taken me this long to see it but what am I subscribed to that thing for anyway? I've heard a lot more stuff through the Now Listening thread on here.

Warp, well... they've always been pretentious and back in the 90's with the whole Designers' Republic clad anti-consumer thing that was kind of cute, but the 90's was a long time ago and they seem content to put out whatever can syphon off the most money from the hipster crowd now. Or maybe I'm just getting old and don't "get it" any more.

As for BoC I dunno. They've made some of my favourite music and however we joke about it I get that they're not trying to court mystery, I really do. But it's been years, and they've been copied to death by so many bands in that time... I don't know how they're going to stay relevent at this rate. Even the internet thing - I like plenty of bands big and small who find the time to communicate with their fans once in a while, even bands that used to be vocal about how pointless it was or don't have a website; the world's moved on, that's just how it's done now. Yeah, nobody "owes" us anything, but it's just telling that a band that hasn't put anything out in 5 years still treats the internet like it's the early 2000s.

Worst thing, it's now colouring my perception of the music, and I don't want that. Sorry to unload but the longer this drags on with no word it just gets tiring. But this game of waiting is like a CD I've listened to too many times now. Wake me up when something interesting happens.

I think we've finally hit bottom.

How is Africa Hi Tech (sp?) the big news? I have never even heard of them before last week. Is this some kind of a joke?
