So have I. If this was in any way verifiable I would put money on it, 2 chances to 1 against. At this point I think it's the best fit to explain the behavior of this MDG persona/alias.

I read over the scan that was posted recently of a 2005 interview, one where they hadn't yet admitted to being brothers. It comes off as very transparent in hindsight. Looking at the pictures where they are so obviously related, seeing the pretense that was put forward for years that their 'families' moved back and forth over the Atlantic at the same time, it reads as extremely self-conscious. It comes across as the opposite of the carefully constructed mythology of two people aloof from the world and their image within it.

I'm also doubtful that years later (20 years at this point?) whatever this 'Hexagon Sun' collective was remains a functional unit rather than friends who have largely moved on with their lives but may still stay in touch. The idea that there are people scanning the internet and discussion forums as agents of a band who hasn't released music in years may make for good 'TV', but it rings hollow to me. It's easy enough for a single person(s) to do that on their own these days. Likely only the musician them self would be so motivated.

As with many things in life it likely comes down to financial motivations. There is certainly some residual gain to be made in keeping up the image of a mysterious band that draws devoted followers. It could be for a brother himself or for someone with returns from merchandise or album sales. At this point however I would lean towards it being an alias, as years later I would think the residuals to be small in comparison with the gains to be had on a personal level in continuing a public image that has been so long invested in.

There's a mark david garrett who is an experienced horror filmmaker. There's a californian based photographer specialised in models with round curves. There's a mark david garrett on facebook (that blokes age and looks could fit the picture. There's over 400 mark garrett's in us and 28 in uk. Oh yea, the financial director of adobe also's named mark david garrett.

But most of the links to mark david garrett just lead to twoism and watmm.

There's a dutch photographer called mark david worth a mention. checking his portfolio is worth the click

The names goderich and frazer clarke doesn't give me decent reference either.

But then there's undoubtfull reference to Peter Ian Campbell as the bands artwork-dude. And then there's simon yuill, actually doing artwork, who's related to a Mark Vernon into sound design pretty active, bbc-related at some points. I even saw ghosts when I notived 6 circles in hex position in his logo and thought I heard a familiar fart in an mp3 containing sound snippets.

another nite completely wasted on this crap. Horrible, should have better things to do.
whooosh

I always thought that was the whole point.

OMGUSH ITS SUCH A CONSPIRACY GUYZ
this isn't really getting us anywhere is it? i'm sure MDG is who he says he is, and i'm sure by the end of the year they'll be some new music.
in the meantime, why don't we all get psyched for The Avalanches' new album in the other forums?

No one said anything about a conspiracy. More like calculated PR.

Do you have any points to share that would illuminate why 'MDG' isn't a persona/alias other than your simply wanting it to be true?

At least we're having a conversation and not bickering or posting random numbers or silly pictures.

The NCD logo is the eye in the pyramid, which has a meaning to anyone that's read the Illuminatus! trilogy. One of the pictures is of a glass pyramid, too. Also, the subheading Frontline Net Observation Research and Development spells out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fnord

The Bohemian Club is kind of interesting too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bohemian_Club A private members club with a semi-secret membership, (also incorporating talented artists and musicians?)

Then again "New Clear Dawn" is the title of a 1977 prog rock album by the band Earthrise... given what we know about the Sandisons growing up listening to, I can't help think it's not a million miles away from possible they swiped the name from there but then it's an easy enough pun to make.

My mind also wants to link this to the "AtalantaFugiens" account that uploaded the Off-the-desk live Julie and Candy somehow, even though I doubt it's related directly. But Atalanta Fugiens was a medieval book of alchemy, if memory serves. Forbidden knowledge and all that, secretive clubs and the illuminati... though these all might be random, unconnected themes, some of which were either nothing to do with BoC or just tangential, its interensting to see what their eyes are drifting over, if that's what it is.

I find it INCREDIBLE that you should bring up The Bohemian Club at this particular time as TODAY IS THE DAY that it is happening!!! Let me clear some of the mystery as to what goes on there. On July 15th, many high ranking wealthy individuals in various disciplines (including several former US presidents) gather together in the woods of Northern California to perform the Cremation of Care ritual where they burn an effigy of a baby and offer it to a 45 foot stone owl... or so the story goes. Then, some of them proceed to prance about in drag and perform plays. It is rumored that the decision to drop the bomb on Hiroshima was formulated at Bohemia Grove.

I wanna stir the pot a little and get those brain juices flowing. I'm sure we all remember the eye and red moon pictures with the supposed codes on them from many red moons ago. Think it's possible that this is still in play somehow? If there is indeed an occult undercurrent to their new music (and oh God how I hope there is!!!), an eye, pertaining to the all seeing eye, would make some sense.
