How about this?

:? This shit makes me sick. It's like shitting on a Mona Lisa. I can just see the newest trend, rapping about fucking shit up with your dick while getting your ass licked over a BoC song. I bet all the Hipsters love it.
Then call me a fucking hipster. But I really love this one! Hah!

I threw a Mos Def acapella over "Rue the Whirl." Personally, I think it sounds pretty tight.
+1 tightness.. make some more!

Just jumping into gripe: What could possibly be "outwith the bands control" at this point? The only thing I could see delaying it this long is a world war or something of that nature. How powerless are BoC? The length of the wait makes any explanation of that sort seem absurd.

I check on their website/twoism about twice a month for developments and am bewildered to continually not find any. Especially after how many weeks of the black box being up? A period of time will come up where an announcement would be significant/likely/logically expected. Nothings happens then we coast back down into a span of waiting time till the next wave culminates then crashes, bearing no fruit. This cycles has been recurring for about 6 years now I believe.

I wonder what their intentions are. A reformation of their style perhaps? Maybe something completely impenetrable? I dont know. Their music has completely changed the direction of my life in subtle and manifest ways, from the people I know to the places I've lived. A lot of the things I've done, if i think about the causality behind them, kind of developed through some association with Boards of Canada.

It's like their music is not just music. It is that, but its also a form of energy/technology. It is a heavy rock thrown into the pond of history that sends out waves, and through its sympathetic vibrations changes experience of being, it changes the order of certain individuals in a subtle way. I think it's this force which they are acknowledging in "One Very Important Thought".

To the people who resonate with them they function more as life-blood than as a band. I could see the next album having lots of "transformative potential". We are living in the externalities of the last century, a lot has changed since 2005 and most of its a facade/weak or fucking garbage.
Their response to the world in their music will likely be different. We all respond to the sphere of culture in an unconscious way I think.

My fear is that they can't disentangle from this hyper-technological-global disassociation we're all stuck in. That they can't find a coherent point of view to work from within all this chaos. That's what has worried me about this wait: Perhaps they've fallen off the ride and can't get back on with anything relevant or at least refreshing.

Haha, thanks. If I can find some more acapellas, I might make a few more for you. Thanks for favoriting it, by the way! Once I get home I'll listen to some of your stuff.

I cant imagine they have "fallen off the ride" and even if they had, the amount of stuff they already have written I bet is huge. They could work on remastering those tracks and release an album or three like that, they would sell like hot cakes.

I find it very re-assuring to visit BoC pages and read through the interviews with boards of canada, they explain them selfs pretty well and from this I can make sense of the 6 year gap, id say all the explanations as to why its "taking so long" has already been explained by them selfes pre-emptively. I bet they are working their nuts off and were all in for some real treats.... Some day.

Well, Plaid (from what they said in an email to a fan earlier this year) finished their new album at the end of 2010 and gave it to Warp. But since Warp already have their release Queue for all of 2011, they couldn't put it out until September, instead of Feb/March. They have a LOT more artists than they did 10 years ago, and they have to make sure the albums go through the proper protocol (Announcing months in advance for promo and magazines to review the album, advertising, etc) so even if Warp has the finished, mastered LP that doesn't mean we get to hear it, at least for a good half year or so.

Maybe they finished the album in April (around the time the update on their website appeared) and Warp told 'em they are gonna get an open window in October/November - gives them time to get the album artwork and interviews set up.

this is just me thinking out-loud...by October if there is no official announcement I'm done caring!

Honestly I do not see an album coming out for at least another year.

Well, I think it'll be a bit sooner, but I don't think it'll be this year at all.

On an unrelated note, I just got done talking to Daedelus and he said he'd be glad to listen to some of my tracks once I'm done :D Really excited.

Welcome back Dono
ditto.
Actually quite funny, the other day I read an old post by dono and wondered why I hadn't seen him much lately. I noticed the last post was from May... and he literally posted a few hours after I looked up his last post... scary!

time keeps on tickin' tickin' into the fuuuuture. right?
