They send out mdg to raise our hopes and afterwards he keeps silent. No continuation. They put a black box with the very accurate knowledge what this means for us and then that's it. Disappointment guaranteed. But they don't care.

Become aware of the fact that we have to wait and stop making all those theories and keep our hopes up. No mdg, no website, nothing eases waiting. Don't trust anything until you can actually buy the new record. We only were fucked in the past.

shit

this makes way too much sense. Now im depressed :(

Some seconds ago I had a more depressing idea:

Maybe the bad treatment of their online fan base is their final revenge for leaking their old stuff?

MDG made no secret of the fact, that boc dislikes sharing music in the likes of soulseek etc. without paying the artist.

Most probably all of us have downloaded the old tunes.

Maybe the brothers think that we now have to pay.

They're no gods, they are humans like all of us. Maybe their feelings were badly hurt with leaking music that they never wanted to be leaked. And most probably they see themselves as the victims and us as the delinquents and so they just avenge themselves.

i still am not convinced it's bad treatment or that they hate us. i still think that they just do things in a different way.

updates and such aren't NECESSARY. sure, they're highly desired by most/all of us (myself included), but if that's just not their way, that's not their way.

worst case scenario, i'd wager they just don't particularly care for us. which is fine.

Dude of course they care about their fans.

But that doesn't mean they have to release something sooner because a buncha e-nerds can't take the wait anymore.

We're spoiled by the internet with bands being able to make updates all the time and us having access to the info instantly.

Also I doubt they are truly upset about the leaks.

Distorting your world view is nearly always detrimental, realism is the way to go.

What's "real" though in your opinion?

Nothing is real

I highly doubt Mike and Marcus are very upset about the Old Tunes and things like that.

They gave it away. It was issued to begin with. They understood the possibilities it could become public when they first gave it away to their friends/family. I doubt they hate us for showing it to each other. That would not be sensible.

I mean, it'd be one thing if it were a REAL leak, something taken from their private collection not meant to be seen by any means, by anyone but them. It wasn't though, they were okay with putting it out.
Okay...now...wait for fog machine.

agreed. they probably didn't foresee that it would travel the world quite as quickly and efficiently as it has, but it's not like they could have rationally thought "it's not going to happen. it's impossible."

Think about when those tapes were made. The internet wasn't nearly as big as it is now. I'll bet they barely thought about the possibility.

Why would you be pissed/embarrassed that somebody other than your friend heard your early work and LIKED it? Old Tunes has been pretty well received.

The internet is not the only form of something like that getting spread out.

really? you don't see how massive leak of stuff you never wanted to be heard outside a circle of your close friends may be a bit of a con? like, if i leaked your most emberassing journal entries from when you were 13, and even if everyone liked it, wouldn't you be a bit pissed? because you never meant it for mass consumption? because it's personal? especially if you're a control freak like bocs seem to be.

i mean, i'm sure they're not losing sleep over it, but i doubt they're happy.

I see how it would bother them, by my feeling is that they are no longer bothered. That's all I'm saying.

Also, if you leaked my e-journal entries from when I was 13, I probably wouldn't care. Not sure how comparative Old Tunes is to that. It's personal to an extent, but tracks off it were released on final releases, so it's obviously not as personal.

you lack empathy, my dear friend.

but the point is, they never wanted it to be leaked, and it's good enough reason to assume they're still not happy it's out. 'salli'msayin'

If something that happened years ago now as small as this, still bothers them, then I can understand the delay with the new album, what with all the psychiatric help they must be getting!

I am not an empathetic person.

I completely understand what they MIGHT be going through. Part of me I guess just believes that if they are in fact holding a grudge this long about it, they should grow up. Sorry if that isn't empathetic for you.

Didn't prevent them from releasing MHTRTC, Geogaddi, etc. etc. So I think it's a load of hogwash.
