I've been messing around a lot lately with different types of signal processing, putting soft synths through hardware synths, outboard, tape and guitar pedals as running guitar through synths, synths through pedals.. you name it. Much less productive as a whole with regards to music but I've been tying to figure out what works and what doesn't.
Here is an experiment from last saturday night. I turned on my reel to reel and recorded some omnisphere stuff through it. Really have to lower the ouput on the synth down to about -30db which is tremendously low for those of us working in the digital realm. I recorded each part individually and then ran the different stuff back into ableton keeping what I thought worked. Only added a small amount of eq where the hiss was pretty overwhelming on one part.
