Two things really.

1) Fredd-e, you've described my thoughts almost perfectly in your posts above.

2) I think Polar's post may have slipped under the radar here?!? Not seen this before and I think it's worth highlighting.

I'll bite, with the caveat that this is baseless speculation aside from what we've seen here and in interviews.

I think there is a good chance that there was a split between the two brothers when it comes to the desire to keep making music. 'MDG' being the brother who wants to continue, and keeps promising something soon, and the other brother having been the one who first made steps to move away across the world. It would go a long way towards explaining all of the false expectations that have been raised for us here over the last four years.

......And the other brother legged it down to London and 'is Burial'!!!! hehe
On a side note I've just finished watching that Scott Walker documentary '30th century man' and he discusses his reclusive tendencies and the really long waits between hs records. Most it sounds familiar. Here we have an artist who genuinely doesn't give a damn about money or fame. He got to chatting about churning out records for the record company in his early days and how he was kind of repulsed by this. But years later kind of waited for inspiration and how it came in a posessed frenzy of writing and that sometimes he'd wait years for this. He was chatting about the act of forcing a record and how that would be artistic death for him. Really interesting watch but yep, was thinking of BoC wile I was watching.

I'm still very pleased to be able to listen to what is available. I'm growing old with this music and it's remained my best friend.

Hi!, everyone! i'm new , and i and hope being a contribution to this forum, well , i love Boards of canada (I think all of us) And I thought about buying The Trans canada Highway, But in Bleep and Warp Records, they don't have stock, so i send an email to know when they will have Stock, and they say :
Hi Diego,
Unfortunately that stock was destroyed in the PIAS fire, so it is currently unavailable,
if and when it gets a repress, we will have it up on the store as soon as possible.
Kind regards,
Bleep Support.
MD

I do not think is a good time for BoC to release a new CD (I say about the rumors of the black box),I think if the black box means anything, is for a long time, because I think Bleep is not fit for this.

Sorry for my english i don't know so much, But I hope to be welcomed here, Thanks!

Welcome Ti_Q, and thank you for this useful information! What if one of the external factors mdg was talking about is this PIAS fire? Maybe the new album was all pressed and ready to be released, but it all burned?
(oh and I agree with Guido, very nice pictures!)

I wonder if MDG would confirm in this thread that the new album was burned in the fire the music media would pick it up from here. But honestly I don't think it was in there. Would still be nice if MDG could comment on the warehouse fire and its relation to BoC stock.

MDG talking about "reasons outwith the band's control" dates back to 2009. ( source ). So it basically has nothing to do with the PIAS fire.
