With regards to my previous speculation comment thinking there won't be a new album, I got in contact with someone at Warp. More specifically one of their artist managers. And basically told him in a lengthy e-mail all of my concerns regarding the possible forthcoming records, the black box etc.

He told me it's not over. They will be back. News will come (relatively) soon and that I should stay tuned.

Take it for what it's worth. But I'd say Warp is a pretty damn reliable source of information.

My thoughts exactly. But I'd rather have something like that instead of being told they've stopped making music.

Sounds familiar.

Soon to them must be years

Let's be realistic. If we get disappointed by a lack of album, it's our own damn fault. We shouldn't decide when a good time will be. I think it's pretty safe to say we'll buy it whenever it comes out anyway. Life goes on. Be glad they're still making music and that they're still assuring us that it's on its way.
I get impatient sure, but then I remember all the cool stuff that's going on elsewhere and I forget about it completely.
I'd rather be off doing other stuff and have the album be a pleasant surprise when it arrives. I'd much less like being the guy watching the box every day pounding his fist, and then when it arrives says "FINALLY, IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME!" only to then say "THIS IS WHAT THEY MADE ME WAIT FOR?".
I'm not interested in being the first to know about it, I'm not interested in being the first guy with the news, I'm not interested in being the first to purchase it, I don't even mind being the last guy who gets around to it.
All I know is that I will buy it when it arrives, and I will enjoy it.

There's really no need for cynicism, or fist clenching, or hair pulling (or any virtual equivalent). There's plenty to enjoy while you wait, I'm sure you could find a band you like more even.

I'm just going to kick back and relax, and not worry about it anymore.

Still banking on a purple/navy blue colour album. That would be sweet.

I'd guess relative to the 5 years we've already waited. So relative to that would be like, what, one year? :D

it would be hilarious if anything from this thread ended up obscurely referenced in the liner notes of the new album.

175 pages. for serious. i bet they'd get a kick out of it.

I bet they are slightly concerned by some of the posts in here. People are getting very worked up over nothing, literally nothing.

You get out of an internet community what you put into it. If you make records that reference obscure tv references, occult symbolism, secret numerology and backmasked messages, then don't say or release anything for 5 years, most "normal" people move on, and the people left in your community are obsessive overanalysers who can spend 6 months discussing the meaning and motive behind a featureless black square.

For some reason this makes me think about acid etching.

I kinda wished for an album cover like the flash site they had, all dark bleu with ice crystals.

re trupets, those were some NICE HORNS but I was thinking about a prolonged trombones blast and some french horn pulses on top of there, like when an epic elk breeches the horizon.
