drugs are pretty rare in japan correct?

Strict ass laws, harsh punishment.

Back in my teens I had a rare condition that paralysed me for a year and a half, during which time I went down to about 9 stone and thin as a rake (I'm 6'3 so...) Anyway, not long after recovering I flew to see my then girlfriend in Japan and got called over at Japanese-side customs for questions and patting down for drugs (long hair hippy type I get that a lot). Guy got down to my hip-bones and almost shat a brick. "WHAT ARE THOSE". "They're... my hips?" I don't know if he thought if they were concealed drugs packages or sidearms. Didn't get stripsearched, but they did spend the next 5 minutes trying to dismantle my shoes. True story.

I can believe that. I've been back and forth from the US to Japan 10 times over the last 6 years and never once have I been hassled by the Japanese authorities at customs. But my friend comes to Japan from the US for the first time this summer and he get's the same spill as you did. I think that maybe they thought he was bringing seeds in, as he was coming to visit an American and not a Japanese. In my experience, drugs are pretty rare here as I have only once came across somebody smoking pot in an alleyway behind a club in Osaka. The punishment for just possession of just a single joint is pretty strict. Unless you can grow it in your apartment inconspicuously, you're probably not gonna find any drugs here. And if you do find pot, the quality is not very good, and it's probably very expensive. I really do think they believe pot will "dumb down" the population.

I wouldn't say they are rare here, they are just kept far more secretive due to the aforementioned strict laws. It really is just best to stay clear of them here.

Okay, I'm not going to blame anybody in particular, but whoever had the idea to put up the black box and have it up there for this long:

Just now, I downloaded all the SFW's from the boardsofcanada.com website, opened them in Flash MX (oldschool, I know).
The place where the black box was supposed to be was in a group all by itself, which is strange. So I opened the group and there was a invisible layer on top of it!

Maybe this is a sign.

Maybe WE all need to make the next "Boards of Canada" album. As in, move on with music. Forget the black box. Evolve the style. Forget about Mike and Marcus. Stop buying BoC merchandise. The second they realize their passive income has been halted, they'll probably come back with something new.
Okay...now...wait for fog machine.

Thinking about making little black boxes that say "Store your new Boards of Canada album here" on them and giving 20 away on the blog as a contest. "The perfect storage for your new Boards of Canada album..whenever it's released."

Hysterical and interested? :D

You should put CDR's in them saying "Waiting for new BoC album to be burned" on them.

LMAO. I'm going to do this. I will let everybody know when they are ready. Probably in two weeks or so.

This don't think this should warrant it's own thread, so I'll put it here.

This video

Lets say we want to make an animation for 1:20 to 1:30 of this video (Happy Cycling). You can make a hexagon out of the nine tones that play. From the top to the right (or left), you've got

Corner Tip (Top) - Corner Tip - Edge - Corner Tip - Corner Tip (Bottom) - Corner Tip - Edge - Corner Tip - Corner Tip (Top)

I thought of this in a daydream while listening to it. It's probably nothing mysterious at all- just cool.

It's crazy to think that, in a few months, it would be a year since the black box appeared  Wondering if they're saving an announcement for the anniversary now? haha.

Imagine if a SECOND black box appeared?

Besides a serious personal issue, there is surely no external factor which could contribute to a delay THIS long.. surely?
