But six or 7 years with no hints or no announcements whatsoever, it becomes a bit tiresome. It's a little prima donna shall we say, I genuinely like the fact that they aren't media whores but things need to be put into perspective here. I'll buy it - if and when it finally comes out - and I sincerely hope it's worth the wait. But this is tiresome. It really is . If you object to me saying that these two lads arent gods then go ahead. I know their music will be remembered and listened to long after things like the SusanBoyle machine is dead and buried, but frankly its just wrong to say nothing for this length of time. MDA's witterings clearly mean nothing, nothing at all. I think its three years in a row he's announced that something is happening , and three years in a row nothing has happened. I'd give up on that shiester if I were you. Fox News is more reliable. Get reall fellies. Tell us whats happening or GTF.

Fair enough. I remember I didn't care at all for Plaid's "Double Figure" EP, and just a couple days ago I gave it another chance and loved it.warphead wrote:ArbitersGround wrote:I've never seen the huge hype about Aphex Twin. I mean, I really like the Richard D. James album and On EP, and Windowlicker is obviously a great track, but other than that I'm not particularly impressed with him.
There is a reason for the hype, perhaps one day it will make more sense to you. I have had Surfing on Sine Waves for over a decade, and never got on with it. Last month I picked it up again for my twice-a-year-listen, just to make sure I still didn't like it (I do this with a few albums MBV Loveless being another one, and I still don't get the big deal). I put it on and it goes BOOM! I am literaly floored by the brilliance of it. I cannot understand for the life of me why I never liked it. Real weird.
Anyway I'd suggest you always keep Aphex in mind. If you get into it, you're in the envious position of discovering all his music. Go listen to Alberto Balsalm if you haven't heard it before.

Notice Boards of Canada are still on the list suggesting they're still signed to warp. I wouldn't think this means anything in particular except there's a few notable absences such as Aphex Twin, Flying Lotus, Maximo Park suggesting they won't release on the label in the future. Probably reading into things too much but maybe this confirms that Warp still expects them to release on the label....

have to vehemently disagree with tsg's post... I mean, I am dying for a new BoC album, I anticipate it and think about it constantly... I'm probably going to take a week off work just to listen to it constantly when it comes out, for christ's sake! But they don't owe you or me or anybody a thing... being reclusive doesn't necessarily mean being up one's ass (in fact, more often than not it would imply the opposite)... who knows why the wait has been as long as it has.... maybe they have been creating it all this time, maybe they've been taking a break. By now it's fairly obvious that unless something music related is happening, little is going to be heard. Would it really be cool if they were always updating their facebook about tedious shit? Maybe they don't even know when the album will be done.
the air of mystery is part of BoC's whole thing... sure I'd like more music, but imagine how great it will be one day when it's there with basically no real warning? I wouldn't have it any other way personally...
And most of all, even if they are just purposely doing it because they know the anticipation of it is so high, and want to fuck with everyone... so what? if anyone deserves to be fucked with, it's people.

Not so sure about the others, but in flylo's case I know that's not true. He tweeted about ''turning in LP#3 to warp'' a few weeks ago.
