I doubt warp or boc would ever give pitchfork an exclusive confirmation of an imminent release.

Well, they didn't. They actually gave the opposite of that.

You know what? I'm a real fan of BoCs music.

I think all the other stuff is irritating though.

Synthetic mystery. Genetically modified suspense. Granted, Boards are probably the only band alive who could get away with this silly carry on, but that's not to say they should.

Just my thrupenny bit.

I literally loled. I don't often do that (I'm a real stoic, you see), but this is so irritating it's funny, in the sense that it's so perplexing and absurd.

like warp is going to be like "yeah, pitchfork we'll tell you the big news without first announcing it ourselves". they got a standard PR response 'updating' us on what we already knew, that music is being made and that no releases have been announced officially.

I suppose pitchfork were trying to get a response from Warp after all the fuss over the facebook comment and this is their reply?

Twoist wrote:- Bunch of websites now reporting 'BoC confirming new album' based on BoC themselves confirming rumours via a FB response (edit: it's not been pulled)
- Peter Serafinowicz this afternoon tweeting new BoC album confirmation based upon article on a random site which..just reported the FB response, and also PS's double album comment from a few weeks back.
.

Let's keep this thing going; maybe if we all talk and think about the new album enough it will physically manifest from the aether.

"They're definitely working on new material... they forget to mention to Warp that they're only sharing it with their wives and friends."

Goes to prove what I've always suspected. The online music press is like the Human Centipede, except welded together in some sort of complete circle.
I'll see you when the sun sets east, don't forget me.

I don't really consider pitchfork much of a credible source anyways lol, they generally support and promote terrible music with some obvious exceptions.

just because you don't like the majority of the music they cover, doesn't mean they're not a huge player in the music industry. a pitchfork review can have a huge impact on the success or failure of an album, or even in breaking unknown bands. i would say they're pretty credible in most situations. hell, they were able to interview boc, how many can claim that?

I don't think there's any reason to doubt the authenticity of the statement from Warp.

It does make me wonder about the state of the current BoC/ Warp relationship though.

Gotta try this some day :

"Mike: Obviously we didn't have a multitrack recorder, but we had two tape recoders. What you could do is record something on one tape recorder, play it back across two feet of air and while it was playing accompany it with something else on the guitar, the piano, the drums, whatever. We would do this, swap the cassettes over and do it again and again until the tapes started getting so distorted that you couldn't do it any longer. "

If it weren't for pitchfork BoC wouldn't have nearly the amount of fans it does these days.

Very true, hate pitchfork as much as you want but they have a huge influence on the music market, whether you like it or not.

Notice the use of word "for" there.
