A positive way to look at all the drama for your mama around here is that a ton of old users are popping out of the woodwork. I haven't even been here too long myself, but that is something only a BOC fan can get nostalgic about.

If it weren't for pitchfork BoC wouldn't have nearly the amount of fans it does these days.

Very true, hate pitchfork as much as you want but they have a huge influence on the music market, whether you like it or not.

Can someone explain to me the Pitchfork hate? I've never really read any of their articles before, same with any other music news site. I take it they post bullshit?

Sometimes they post with a good subject/artist/no bias, but a majority of the time they post hipster non-sense and downright terrible music, claiming it to be the next greatest thing.

But don't take my word for it, go read their site for yourself.

The writing style in their articles is kind of snobby. Just read any of their articles, you'll get it. Just like any kind of magazine/internet/blog/youtube review, ignore what they actually say. Use it to just learn what's out there to draw your own conclusions about it.

I agree with that, and as far as news and album details I'm sure pitchfork is reliable, I was kind of generalizing lol, sorry. Though I have to say I definitely think it's a bad thing that pitchfork, or any website etc. for that matter has so much say in what artists are promoted/recognized. The music industry shouldn't be filtered by opinionated hipsters. And I admit they definitely have helped boc build it's fanbase, but that doesn't make pitchfork better as a result.

I think the point of the whole warp rep thing was to stop rumors getting out of hand, I'm optimistic about a new album coming soon though.

Well, thats all we have right now, isnt it? Optimism.
You just never know when a new album will appear from around the corner.

Wow, it took me a few moments to get this, but, yes, this sums pitchfork up perfectly. Concise and poetic statement.

Nice comments. It's good to see that pitchfork's jedi mind tricks don't work on everyone.

And as far is a new boc album is concerned, I'm definitely thinking that shit's going down. I'm conjecturing that boc did what they did in order to gauge their ability to produce 'buzz' and attention within the modern internet media apparatus. Whether this is true or not, they created an incredible amount of attention and awareness to their current activities through countless blogs and music sites. The attention they have gotten is almost equal to actually releasing a new single.

The news of the Black Dog remix is pretty awesome as well. This is the most public activity they've had in a long while.

Finally, do you all really think boc could resist releasing an album with the year 2012 next to it?

I think if you look at all the small shit individually, it's pretty uneventful (like the Black Dog remix, facebook reply, pitchfork thing, and that radio show that said they're working on a double album).

But I think the fact that all this came very close to each other is at the very least a good sign.

And by good sign, I mean that we now know that the brothers are most likely alive, and they haven't completely abandoned doing music together.

Fascinating as this pitchfork discussion really and truly is, can we stop now?

Intense venomous hatred for Pitchfork can be just as much a sign of indier than thou pretension and elitism as Pitchfork itself is. Seriously, who cares. I know we are struggling for conversation with the album wait, but come on guys :D

Ratings for any kind of media by popular rating sources are always biased.

Imagine working for a video game magazine and you reviewed some hot new hotness game in a very meh light(lets call it Modern Warfare 8, because no matter how bad that is, it will get the best reviews right...) The game genuinely didn't seem like a good game to you so you reviewed it honestly. Good luck keeping your job there.

Reviews made by consumers are even more biased sometimes.

Honestly I think all these subtle BoC hints over the years is a clever marketing strategy. Tease the fan base for as long as they think they can get away with it. So when the album does hit they brainsplode.

Total rubbish. I hate Pitchfork with a passion, a real passion. Goddamn studious, nerds writing about rock and roll? Do me a favour. Some music is made with gritty venom and spit, then these guys drone on about it like a bunch of PHD students. I fucking hate Pitchfork, everything they write is a green light for them to write the most anal retentive crap I have ever read. Have you ever read any of their album reviews? If I can't get too sleep I don't count sheep. I read a Pitchfork album review. By the time I am a few sentances in I'll guarantee I'll be snoring loud.

Tossers.

I'm curious of what the album art will be for a new cd by boards, the visual stuff is definitely a big part of it for me. The artwork for Geogaddi is definitely my favorite.

I'm anticipating a backlash over whatever font they choose to use.

I'm still wondering if we should guess something from the pictures they posted on the Myspace page a few months ago…

I don't know if we should be satisfied for all the activity we got the last few days. We still don't have a clue about the release date or the album content. We just know that the bros are working on the new album. What if the day the black box appeared was the day they started to work on it? It would mean that we'd have to wait for another few years, knowing Mike and Marcus' perfectionism…

I'd actually say that's what makes the most sense after all this time. If The Black Dog are just now starting a remix it would likely be with a track that has just been completed.
