Oh yeah, and fuck all the self righteous snobs.

^^ Agreed.

And what about Hills West? Can't recommend his album Step into the Outside too much, isn't it?

To be honest, I've always thought the "BoC ripoff" mindset usually goes overboard.

I mean, you should have your own sound. I personally think it's wrong to just completely copy someone's style.

However, most musicians generally just use an artist as a influence and while they may bare traits and certain components of their style, they are not a "ripoff" necessarily. Therefore they shouldn't be relentlessly condemned. That's just my take on it.

Also, take it easy on Synthestesia. While he overreacted, I don't think the point he's coming from is particularly volatile.

I like Ciaran Byrne as well, I can't be mad. As long as music sounds good, I can't hate it.

There's a name I haven't heard in ages. I hope he is doing alright wherever.

For anybody who uses analogue synths, and uses that gear to program not-too-complex classic sounding leads, it is often very hard not to sound like a boc rip-off.

tycho is just plain awesome. even though it is blatant that he is using many of boards of canada's ideas. he still does a great job at what he does.

I have seen Tycho get shit on a lot. I like his tunes on a surface level, but I've found it to be lacking in depth, at least compared to BoC. But I would probably say that about a lot of music that's not BoC.

I agree with you, the more I get into BOC the more I understand why most people state Aphex and Autechre as the most relevant similar artists. I know that's not the answer a lot of people want to hear but in terms of innovation, depth, and creativity all of these are just in a league of their own.

Tycho, along with Ochre, Orange Crush and the other artists that people often quote might be closer to BOC in terms of approach and atmosphere, but it's just not on the same level. It just makes me want to listen to the real thing. That being said Orange Crush does have some real potential to be there one day IMHO.

While I respect your right to say this, I vehemently disagree with your post.

Dude, I think you and I will get along really, really well. Welcome to Twoism!

P.S. might want to keep the "respecting your right to x" sort of thing on the DL, you might get called a misanthropic libertarian or something.

Seven forty seven is the most sublime, beautiful song they'll ever release. There, I said it.

In the interests of balance, I can't say I've ever put it near the top of the list.

I'm only mentioning this because a) it further addresses the recent lack of non-agreements, and b) even though it is clearly your opinion, your sentence did not indicate as such :P

Note that I haven't said you are wrong - maybe you have a particular set of ears that are picking up something in Seven Forty Seven that just isn't registering for me? Good track, but I suppose there's no such thing as a bad BOC track - yet...
