The whole view of being 'owed' something in terms of new music makes no sense to me; it's sort of bizarre, and overlooks the point that creative ideas cannot be bought or forced. If they are forced - out deadlines or 'obligations' to fans - the music isn't genuine anymore; it's not a proper and full representation, it needs to flourish.
You wouldn't expect a skilled canvas artist to rush a painting in a week at someone's request if it actually takes them several months to develop it to the quality that said requester expects of them in the first place... It seems like a counter-productive ask.
I think that illustrates why, IMHO, it seems a bit mad to want an album produced as something owed / obligatory, rather than something born of a natural idea and carefully developed in its own time. So I'd consider the wait to be a good sign. And while some will disagree, I honestly think there's lots of equally great or better music from others around in the meantime.
My comments here are not specific to BOC's working on stuff, but can be true of any artist.
