Look, I know that this is all part of it. I get that. I know that the idea of releasing random codes in six - or however many - 12" records dotted across the globe is going to wow a load of their fans and that's fine. But, you know, some of us just want a new sodding album. We've found all that we can on the interweb. We have A Few Old Tunes and BoC Maxima, we've tracked down the Hell Interface stuff. We've even bought the Warp 20 compilation for the one track, which was widely touted as having been complete for about 5 years when it came out (and that's not to start on the 'which version is at the correct speed' discussion...).
Just. Release. An. Album.
Go on, you must have written something by now that you're happy with.

Yeah, I read that comment too. Makes me laugh. Wasn't the reply from someone: 'Sense of entitlement much??'

Seriously, some people.... We've waited 8 years so I'd be gutted if they'd just given this a bog-standard release. Well done Warp I say, for going to all this effort with it - it's appreciated by most of us I reckon.

This. As frustrating as it is to feel like a drip-fed observer on the wrong side of the planet (everything seems to happen while I'm in bed), this is the most fun I've had with any album release ever.

I notice it too. It seems a lot faster indeed...

Depends. The increased visitor count could just automatically elevate it into a web cache depending on how the site or host is configured.

The hosts David Mitchell and Charlie Brooker have both had BoC references in their programmes in the past, Peep Show name dropped them and Brooker has used their music in Nathan Barley a couple of times.

Kinda, although Chris Morris directed Nathan Barley and I reckon that was his influence rather than CB. Also David Mitchell professes to know nothing about modern music and it was probably down to someone else how the music was chosen for TMAWL.

I'm just thinking target market rather than presenters. It would be sweet if they mentioned it coming into or out of the break though...

Yeah i remember Charlie Brooker actually taking the piss out of BOC by calling it "Pretentious New Age" music, I'll try to find the source for kicks.

Found it for you: http://youtu.be/9Uj2_6rzXks?t=5m25s

I think that that's a tongue-in-cheek description; looking through Charlie Brooker's tastes in music (there are Spotify playlists he's made featuring the music used in his TV shows, and such) it doesn't seem like it would be a huge stretch for him to be a Boards fan.

And as for David Mitchell, the references in 'Peep Show' and the Mitchell and Webb sketch show were almost definitely chosen by someone else. Especially given that the former isn't written by Mitchell or Webb (though they have some degree of input).

i agree, i absolutely love it. It's very clever and i think it shows they have paid attention to how much many BoC fans enjoy that mysterious element.

I agree with this. It's nice to see something not just released nonchalantly, while at the same time not being some overly contrived 'viral' thing where there's some soft drinks company in on it or something.

I also agree here, I mean they could just say.. "the album will be out next month on this date" then we would all just sit there twiddling our thumbs, waiting.

This thing they are doing is a breath of fresh air, fun and doesn't have any hint of cooperate bullshit to it. Its simply a fun and interesting way of building up to a new release.

Checked the latest NME (assuming it's the one with Vampire Weekend on the cover). Nothin'. Checked the classifieds and everything!

And to add to the insult of not finding anything, I paid for a copy of NME. I'm off for a cold shower.

Couldn't agree more with all of these posts. I fucking absolutely am in love with what's going on at the moment. It really evokes the feelings that BoC have always managed to bring up in me with their music. The sense of mystery, magic, wonder etc. I am so glad that it hasn't just been a case of ALBUM OUT ON XX/XX/XX. After such a long silence, these little gradual signals have been the perfect way for BoC to reacquaint themselves with their fans, whilst keeping their mystique and keeping us guessing. I hope they read these pages and know that we appreciate it. I don't give a shit how long we've had to wait. It's been worth it.

I'm a college student and it's finals time right now.
Basically I'm:
-Doing my work
-Checking this forum
-Eating
-Sleeping
-Taking walks to get myself some fresh air

It's absurd

But, like someone else said, I fucking love it. I'm having so much fun. If they would have just announced an album, it would have been kind of lackluster.

If it airs on television the only thing that I can imagine it airing on would be PBS or something? I mean, idk it's sort of the equivalent of NPR but for tv; that's assuming it's broadcast in America. Also, dunno if this has been mentioned but the '/XXXX/'s and 'ONE GOT FAT' annotations are not on the Julie and Candy video anymore.

Hmmm, not too sure about American TV. Over here it'd most likely be Channel 4, but in the US...The Daily Show/Colbert?
