BoC really are like MBV - so many have tried to emulate them yet no-one has come close...

Yup, the comparisons are uncanny, in so many ways. Aesthetically and musically.

Shows you how amazing MBV really are :)

I just got the last beach house album and Teen Dream. Actually had heard of them but not given them a listen until I heard the most recent interview with Bibio on the radio. He said Clark introduced him and told him to really give it a few listens and now he can't stop humming their tunes he then recommended Lover of mine which they played. I was smitten. And wow it just hit the spot this spring. I'm so loving their crap keyboards all wonky and off.

Such a good band. What impresses me so much about their recent stuff is how they've managed to retain and evolve the atmospheric core of their sound through the higher production values. Great songwriting, too.

I'm a sucker for anything out of the Radiophonic Workshop.

If I'm being honest, I'm mainly listening to the latest BOC clip, over and over and over and over again...

Not seen this movie, but I'm interested in doing so. Jon Brion doing the soundtrack being a contributing factor.

I need to check this one out actually. Have a clip of John Peel introducing Stars of the Lid in which he references this very record. 8)

I agree. Their song writing on this last album is incredibly good and still retains their sound completely. Bella Union (Robin Guthrie and Simon Raymonde from Cocteau Twins) is the perfect label for them as well I hear hints of the Cocteau Twins in the music and some Siouxsie in the singers sound.

"Kaleidoscope" by Kelis. I always forget about it then listen to it and wonder why I don't listen to it more cos it really is rather good. Then I forget about it again.

I switched Kelis over to Shafiq Husayn about halfway through, even though I was quite enjoying it. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME.
