Vera Lynn always brings back the memory of when I had a class at university with the guy who organised the Union entertainments (and who I thought was a bit shit at the job, and who I only partly irrationally thought was a bit annoying anyway) was saying that he'd booked a very well-known woman to do a DJ set at the main Christmas event. I jokingly asked if it was Vera Lynn and he didn't get the joke, and I've felt bitter about that ever since.

Haha, he sounds a bit clueless! Sounds like a lot of people I know at Uni...

When we come home, we want it quiet and calm,
We want you to sing us a song.

I need to listen to the whole album again. There's some REALLY good stuff on there, and some points when they're showing real progression, but - from my first listen - it felt like there was a bit too much that felt more like 'filler' and that the album could've done with being a bit shorter.

I think it'll grow on me as a whole singular album, though, with repeat listens.

NP: Julia Holter - 'Finale' (though it's just ending now)

I've listened to it a few times and it's growing on me, but I have to agree with you on the filler feeing, parts of it just feel a bit aimless. And I'm really not feeling the MC they got in on those few tracks, he just sounds like the weak kid with no flow who hangs about in the back of a cipher and gets a few pity bars.

checking out Disclosure because of hype, I'm liking track 2... although the vocal sample kind of gets in the way of the music.

Nothing like a huge slab of psychedelic soul to start the day right...

DJ Shadow - Endtroducing

Never tire of this album. I think he hit it out of the ballpark with this one.
