I remember a few bands, Lamb stands out as the main one, mixing trip hop atmospheres/vocals and jungle breakbeats. This is a pretty good example, haven't listened to it in ages -

Good stuff. I got to see Lamb live in 96. They were brilliant. This is one of my favorites of theirs. I haven't listened to them in ages either.

Prince - Sign O The Times (live recording).

Sounding great, but I'm eyeing up The Velvets' "Loaded"...

Everyone needs to watch the film 'Good Vibrations', honestly.

The Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter.

Let it Bleed = the best Stones album.

really getting into Broadcast's shiz, particularly Tender Buttons.

the synth tones on that record are gloriously noisy.

agreed! I think Gimme Shelter is maybe the greatest rock song ever.

I saw a documentary called "20 feet from stardom" that's about the handful of really prolific female backup singers from this era and there is a whole segment on the recording of Gimme Shelter. That was a great movie. Those are like some of the greatest and most recognizable vocals of all time and no one knows those women's names.
All of old. Nothing else ever. Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

Mercury Rev - Little Rhymes

Read a great piece on The Quietus recently which led to me rediscovering Boces. I'm now rediscovering Mercury Rev generally. Loving All Is Dream this morning.

Belle & Sebastian's If You're Feeling Sinister just clicked with me, I played it during watching the sunrise after an allnighter of doing essays.

yeah. it's not twee, it's bright and sombre, it's not peppy and wussy, it's fragile and delicate.

such a gorgeous record.
