I've always wanted to go to Azores. Bourdain says the food is sublime.

Well, there is your incentive. Incredible food, incredible drone and Portugal's liberal drug laws. It's a done deal

Totally. I've listened to it way too many times over the past few days. Just lovely. Any idea what the spoken word part of it is?

It's from Terrence Malick's 'The Thin Red Line' :)

That's a great spot, cheers. The full quote is:

Is surface noise ever an issue with SOTL on vinyl? I know that parts of 'Tired' are particularly quiet so I've wondered about this.
My debut Sweguno EP 'Adapteras' is available here: https://atavisticspasmrecords.bandcamp. ... apteras-ep

it's not overwhelming. in fact, for this type of music, a bit of crackle only adds to the music.

Yeah, I think it comes with the territory, vinyl for that warmth and ambience. Then CD for how the music was meant to be heard from the studio mastering. Its good to have both I think. One thing is for sure, I love this album so much.

Never had a problem with it to be honest. Like others mentioned above, any surface noise / 'warmth' just adds to it in my view. Ditto Arvo Part, classical music etc.

This is kinda random, but I'm gearing up for the warmer seasons by planning some urban exploring here in town, and after two years I'm ready to try to get into the abandoned 17-story Psych hospital in town. It's locked up tighter than a nun's - well, you know - but having spent the last two weeks laid up in an adjacent hospital with a view of the damn thing, I can't get it out of my head.

Anyway, in some of my light research, I stumbled upon , which combines stars of the lid and abandoned buildings. Ahh, heaven.

EDIT:
I found the whole film here SotL throughout. Enjoy!

That was brilliant, thanks for sharing man. Hope you get into this building you speak of! Make a similar film?

The building I want to get in to is the very one depicted in the film! And sadly I don't have the equipment or the capacity to make my own film, but I'll be sure to take lots of pictures (35 mil and shitty iPhone pics) and post them here. That is all assuming I can get into it. It's been notoriously well locked-up for the last twenty or so years.

Hope it all goes to plan, I love urban exploration. Urban decay is strangely beautiful also. SoTL music fits so perfectly with that video.

In other news, my copy of Decline arrived today 8)

Funny, there used to be a video on youtube of someone exploring a former hospital just down the road from me with Austin Texas Mental Hospital Part 3 as the soundtrack.
It was a regular haunt for urban explorers a few years ago, sadly now boarded up and much of the interesting stuff removed.
