It may be a bit harsh, but I can only laugh about stuff like this. I'm not really fond of the idea of having guns anyway, but if you own them, be responsible with them, and check everything over and over. Not holding them to your head. Haha, moron.

I don't believe in hunting, I don't believe it is a legitimate reason to own a gun, mainly because I don't believe there actually is such thing as a "fair chase" when you can use high powered, long sight scopes on weapons rendering the supposed 'chase' merely a competition as to who can hold the gun steadiest. Hunting panders to an inferiority complex. If you want to shoot an animal, be a man and use a camera. We have no need to hunt animals any more.
Secondly, a gun can only ever carry violent connotations. Even if you do use your gun responsibly and take all the correct safety precautions, you're still not getting away from the fact that the thing you hold in your hand is used to kill and injure people/animals. You can be Captain safety all the way, but it doesn't ever detract from the incredibly malevolent significance guns carry. Take away the gun and you take away the risk of hurting anyone, including yourself.
When the constitution was written, it was perhaps a necessity, in those volatile early years, to own a gun. But now? There is no reason. No reason beyond wanting to pander the ego, threaten or hurt someone.

You're not. I'm pretty well tempered and like I said, it's not you.
As you stated you don't believe in hunting - this is fine. It still remains a reason though. Many people would disagree purely on the grounds that they would prefer to hunt their own food. Joe Rogan had a great segment on his podcast about it, where he stated that prior to a hunting trip he was either going to become a vegetarian or a hunter, and he chose to become a hunter. I think it's less about "fair competition", which would be like a guy with a stick that has a sharp rock on the end of it vs. his prey, but more about the fact that the animals live a completely natural life up until the point they are killed instantly by the bullet - no slaughter houses, no meat industry, etc. Is this the way I live? No, so I guess you could say I don't believe in it either. I don't hunt, I only fish, but I'm not going to deny one their ability to hunt.
Secondly...the thing I use is never for that purpose. Was it designed for that purpose? Yes, in part at least because this is a weapon specialized for use at a firing range yet it's still a firearm, but I don't plan on using it for that purpose (obviously). I don't need anyone that might take a violent connotation from it to see it at all, I'm not one of these people who feels the need to open carry a weapon, so the only people who will see it are people who know "we're going shooting". I obviously cannot speak for everyone else.
As for the last part, that's the only thing that might potentially "flare tempers". If I choose to kill myself it's my decision and that of no one else - the end. Period. I have nobody to take care of or serious responsibilities I would leave behind, nor am I obliged to live, nor did I ask to live particularly with these disorders and in this country on this planet. If a friend of mine suffering from something crippling decided to take their own life, I would support whatever their decision is. If a man who is totally fine loses his job, comes home, drinks until he's heavily under the influence and then contemplates it I might advise that it need not be necessary, but even still it's his choice. A comedian I really, really love from my state actually is Doug Stanhope, and he has a bit where he puts it very well in words: "Life is like animal porn - it's not for everyone." While simultaneously making me laugh that pretty much sums up shortly a right to die position's justification, and as it is subjective from person to person it needs no more than that.
As for the part about the constitution, I couldn't care less what it says. It's actually part of the problem somewhat because like I said it adds a layer of federal bullshit to states that may or may not want to have guns be legal.
Finally, I just want to say that we disagree less than you probably think. I enjoy target shooting with my brother but it's superficial and could easily be exchanged with something else. The thing is that I've never seen anyone propose a way we effectively eliminate guns in the United States. It's just not something we can do right now, we need radical shifts in thought and we need people to stop increasing the population even more. That being said, I still enjoy shooting so if guns were outlawed it would be appropriate to have licensed ranges you could go to, rent a gun, and use it within the range and if you walked out with it you'd be in serious trouble. Maybe the same thing for people who want to hunt game, within a certain area of land. In terms of self-defense, at that point (what I expressed about radical shifts in thought) we wouldn't need guns for protection, ever.
