747Music wrote:Nick, you are a fantastic fella ya know. After all these years you're still popping in to honestly critique and thus help out with peoples music. And people should listen closely, cuz you're a talented musician yourself, with a good ear. I've always been a fan of your work and musical suggestions. You were the one who first introduced me to Tame Impala all those years ago. I guess I just wanna say thanks.

Gimme a hug, buddy.

I honestly critique people because that's what happened to me when I first got started here. Paracat/Hendrik/Flamingo Pudding urged me to post my first collection of track, I did, and I remember one guy actually went through the "album" track by track and was like "this is where you could do better, I like this, this and this but this sucks and isn't good, this track is bad" etc etc.
I value that criticism every day because it not only makes me look at other peoples work but it makes me look at my own, constantly saying "how can I make this better?"

Speaking of I think my creative drought is just about done, I've got a few sketches of tracks which could be good.
Couple of things, though;
- I wanna get some singers and rappers in on it. It's gonna be a pop record.
- I wanna try and play as much live instrumentation as I can. Might be an arduous task, and I might have to call in some friends to lend me some equipment, but I wanna make it sound as organic as possible, while still keeping my sound.

New tune up if anybody would like a listen. Mastered by Alex (CLD Audio Mastering), and my submission for his charity compilation album, 'Reset'.

Cheers for checking.

I'm really glad about the attention and the feedback, Telepathic Kid. Indeed the synths are some of the draft-iest parts of it, because I haven't given them much thought. I feel really stalled looking for the "best" sound while the music itself is still waiting to be written, so I'd rather get the whole thing written down and then work on the sounds. The structure, the rhythm and the melodies are the real meat in this piece.

Me and my buddies just put out three songs today.

One is futuristic, spacey electronic; the second is dark and more ambient; while the third is a progressive rock/metal song with a lot of electronic semblances.

Just listened to New Clear, liking this a lot! Great synth work and really rich sounding.

I also posted a rather new tune on soundcloud today:

The past 2 days I am getting a nasty shock from time to time in my studio so I came up with this title for something I had been working on; spending today going through piece by piece to trouble shoot it.

Love how it sounds so volatile, but sort of uplifting at the same time. Some of my favorite ambient pieces follow that sort of design. Awesome stuff!

My God, I've been working on my debut record since December and it's finally up to 13 tracks that just need a few more months of work, then it's off to the races to get the thing noticed and out of my hands, and into everyone else's ears. I really want to post some here, but they're not quite ready for consumption in much form. A few people on the forum have heard the tracks and I'm thankful for all of the kind words, though. :)

One of the things I wanted to do, since starting the record, was be more active in this thread, because I know how important it is. So, I quit my job in April (linked, as I'm not sure who follows me that much, aside fro a few) to start making my album full time (call me crazy), and I went back to April in this thread, and vowed to listen to all that's still available. And it's all amazing.

I really like the long fade on this one and the ambiance in it. Also, your visual skills are impeccable and I love the record on your Bandcamp. Did you DRAW that? Downloaded.

THIS IS AN OUTSTANDING DEMO. I can hear a nice, heavy rhythmic sample section on it, in my head. Like something Clark would do, maybe? Regardless, this piece is beautiful

Thanks man. Trying to get some more up-tempo stuff together for the live shows. As nice and all as the downtempo stuff is for the beard strokers, it's extra nice to have a few heads nodding too.

I feel you. I'm constantly reworking my live shows, trying to find a balance in the set between the different tempos. Gauging the crowds reaction is the best way to do that.

Visualized wrote:Hey,

i got a new track "What He Sowed" online. It's filled with self-recorded samples, some BOC-ish textures and disembogues in a noisey shoegaze-post-rock ending.
Listen with headphones!

Whoa, this is nice. Really conservative mix as far as the song goes. I like the vocal samples & it has a wonderful comedown.

There's some wonderful stuff going on under the song here that's great!

The vocalist kind of sounds like Little Boots. I'm always happy when someone other than me's posting songs with full vocals as a part of the song. Fantastic lyrics as well, and great melody after the second verse. This remix is nice! It could be a bit heavier, but that's just me. I like the vocal stutter before it gets more uptempo.

HA! THIS IS PERFECT.

This is as far as I got, but I'm going to listen to the rest after I listen to Perch's album. You guys are wonderful.

The Telepathic Kid wrote:Fernie - I liked the mix of acoustic guitar and drums with electronics. I dunno if the synth sounds are that... good? I mean I know its a draft but still. The rhythms were nice though.

scyye - I thought it started out kinda plain, though I liked the percussion. Then that jumpy arp synth thing came in and I liked that. There's also some nice harmonies going on with the chords.
I completely agree with this post.

Oh God, you know you scare me with that numbers station crap. The Sandisons are somewhere in their studio asking how you got this song to sound so crazy. I like it! ;)

I just listened to this! Very nice work, though I think the levels sound a bit off, just in that it's a very quiet sounding song. I like how the bass tones are swept throughout the track and how things come in and out. Very swirly, and as Perch said, volatile but there's a strange peace that exists in the song as well. :)

Yeah, it's a bit of an experiment; that's 6 different versions of the same 5 takes of midi info played each time with new patches on a microKorg, Pulse 2 and Analog 4 and then recorded off the mixer. And then dropped into logic and added filters to them.

Thanks for the listens/kind words! I have been trying to involve my art style with the music more, and soon want to work on some looped animations to go with ambient pieces. here was an early attempt at that, if interested.

Going to add a lot more synth and layer this one to death, but here is a start. In the end I want it to sound like Larry Levan style production with boards and Fugazi influence too. Weird combo, but I think it's working. https://soundcloud.com/shane_anthony/sh ... y-new-life

It's sort of something I've just completed and something I'm working on. In that I created this piece quickly using a recording I'm currently developing for something different.

So it's a sort of mellow, 'trip-hop' sort of remix of a work in progress...
