This is really good! The harpsichord makes it sound really otherwordly. The only thing I dislike is the synthpatch that plays that melody in the second half. For half a second I was thinking "cliche", after I was magically blissed at what happened from 0:48 to 1:00, Right after that sharp feedback-ish sound that sends chills down the spine there is a desonant chord that almost sounds like orchestral strings. That is very well done! Make it more like that, and the synth less like what allot of musicians here want to sound like, you could make some deserted sounds of Giorgio de Chiriconian proportions.

First thing I've done with some sounds from my new toy, the OP 1. Started with a midi sequence recorded off of it into Logic. Love that it transmits all of the echoes and delays of a synth patch in midi to use on other sounds. A game changer for me!

Thanks man! Really appreciate it.

Thanks for pointing out the synth sound. I wasn't 100% convinced of the timbre myself and felt it was a little too artificial. I'm thinking of replacing it with some prepared guitar.

I also really liked this. Love the way that the automation gradually shifts throughout. It's a completely different approach but it reminds me of Ben Frost's 'Theory of Machines' in which the bassline and kit become gradually more distorted until they collapse in on themselves.

I think I sorted out some of those radio sounds on the Cosecha clues using the OP 1. A long and at times too loud an idea I made today using the Op 1's tape speed tricks and 5 midi parts layered and mixed using different sounds from a few synths;

I have been sitting on this recording for a bit, figured I'd toss it up since it was just a quick sketch so to speak. It doesn't translate in the music or anything, but when I made it I wanted it to be a soundtrack to a dream I had about finding a weird room at the bottom of a lake. Just something really lofty I guess. fun stuff!

I'm approaching finishing 2 tracks at the moment. I've also just done a rebranding of my sound cloud and other profiles. Please give it a listen, any critiques are welcome, advice I've received on here before has been really productive so I look forward to it

This was pretty great, I love the video too. I've always been a fan of minimal, sort of dissonant hip-hop stuff. I was just listening to dj krush this morning, was a pretty smooth transition to this.

These pieces feel really bleak, especially the first with those kinda haunting vocals. Definitely feel like they could be in a soundtrack to a really dark 80s film or something. Glad you're out of your slump!

Really clean recording on this! especially the guitar, I never have luck finding a happy spot to record guitar haha. I was really getting into the part about 2 min in where the higher synth comes in with your "oooh's" also really nice bass work, I feel like I could listen to that last minute of instrumentation when it becomes more apparent for a lot longer. I think I could say all the same things about this second piece you have. I like how the drums skitter a little bit here and there. This is totally subjective, and you might find it a bit obtrusive in your song writing, but I could really dig a more rhythm oriented break in here somewhere. Like a part where everything fades out but the bass and the drums. But that's just me, I love that stuff haha. Awesome stuff! Really cool to hear more singing on this thread :D

some new tunes

I don't know if I can say anything that encompasses everything here, as they are all pretty diverse. Hyperreal feels the most directed, but I could also just be thinking that since it has the most consistent sound all the way through. Some of the pieces get really busy, Like with floor 138 I was really into the initial part, and the pretty subtle-ness kinda gets a little lost in the second half. That could be your whole point though, so as with any of my rambling, it's totally subjective. I like how much exploring is going on here, though

Alright, haha I wanted to contribute a bit of discussion before swoopin' in and dropping my stuff off.

The harp I recorded isn't mixed as well as I'd like it to be, but I had a load of fun recording most of stuff on here. Coooolcool

Thanks for the comments Perch! The song you posted was not what i was expecting at all. I was pleasantly surprised with a chill tune with loads of character. the flute stole the show for me. great work!

thanks for the kind comments Perch, the second track isn't quite finished yet the drums i wanted to reprogram and I've rather hastily mastered it to put on sound cloud but its really brought the bass up, I was listening to it on trips on Friday night to evaluate it all and only noticed how loud the bass is then haha - some more work on that this week I think.

Just out of interest, a lot of people make music on here, but has anyone got some good tips for promoting yourself and getting more listeners?

Oh and the guitars! I used to use an SM57 all the time on my cab but always found the tone to be really sharp sounding and a bit more difficult to mix.

I did some session work for a guy called Phil Bush a few years back (he engineered the smiths first album and did quite a lot of work for the BBC in the 80's) - on my cabs in that session we used a Cascade Fathead microphone which sounded perfect, I only just got round to buying/affording one of these recently and it makes guitars (and acoustic interments) sound like butter haha

http://www.cascademicrophones.com/casca ... ad-ii.html

I use it on all my guitars now!

I love it! The song is nice n' chilled. And naming it after MGS2 is just fantastic, lol. I remember renting it the day it came out and playing, and beating it, in one sitting. The part where the colonel starts malfunctioning scared the crap outta me. It must've been around 3 or 4 am at this point. Good times.

Nice work! 8)
