In my own experience, Tri Repectae (sp?) is the best introduction to Autechre. It's got a good mix of melody and experimental stuff mixed together. Give it a shot.

Sorry but your so wrong! Start with the first album, after each album you see what a great talent they really are!

It's just his opinion, it doesn't make him wrong. I do agree to start at the beginning though and work your way towards the newer stuff. Hey, maybe we should move this convo to the Autechre topic?

I've been on a complete and total Phonem binge today listening to "Hydro Electric" and "Ilisu" albums on the Morr Music label. He has some really great stuff here, fans of Autechre and Arovane need to check this cat out pronto! :D

Kraftwerk - The Man Machine

I can hardly believe this came out in 1978... It's quite awesome, and only sounds a little dated. But really that just adds to the charm of a Kraftwerk album.

For my part, I don't think that Tri is a bad place to start. "Clipper" was the first AE track that blew me away...

"444"
"C-Pach"
"Eggshell"
"Second Bad Vibel"
"Second Scepe"
"Dael"
"Glitch"
"Slip"

Those are some of the first ones that helped me catch on to AE. They're some of the most enduring, imo, too.

Yes! I LOVE The Man-Machine.
As of right now I'm digging the new Junior Boys record "So This Is Goodbye." Anyone else a fan?

"The Man Machine" from "Kraftwerk" is the only album i had to buy again on vinyl, because my first copy was worn out! It was re-released in 1993! "Spacelab" is one of my favourite tracks from that album. :D

Spacelab is totally bitchin! Really makes you feel like you're in a futuristic lab!

But! Love most of their other stuff..

And a little bird told me their new album is out and about floating around on the 'net..
