I know I'll probably be the only one who cares about this,

but in the Random Sound thread "post what you're working on", a user who kicked up a stink when I called them out on doing a music drop 'n' run, has not logged into their account since December, even after we apparently made up and everything was cool.

Now I know, there'll be people who just are like "well, why get upset, it's not hurting you, just ignore it if you don't like it", but for me and the people who've been here and made names as regulars, it's as if there's a long line to the "recognition" desk, and someone's pushing in.
We spent time here knowing the community and being friends with as many people here as we can, so that if/when we want to drop things, people will happily listen and give feedback. Then these people come in and say "listen to my shit" and then go off. It's like, why do we even bother if it's all about the clicks on your soundcloud profile and the downloads on your bandcamp.

They're taking all the fun out of being musicians, getting to know other musicians and having that camaraderie. Getting to be a part of a special community of people who you call friends. It's conversations on here and other places that make making music a side thing to being part of a community, and the interaction with everyone the main draw of being here. If you want instant gratification, go to /mu/ because everyone there is anonymous, but don't come here with your 5 posts, and say "I'll stick around, just listen to my stuff!" because no one buys it.
This isn't a dig against that user in particular, because this has happened before (and blown up in quite a negative way), and this will happen again. I'm just airing my thoughts.

To sum up, people that simply want to drop their music without making friends:
People will click, but they won't click again, they won't remember you and they won't care about your music.

This is something myself and AE discussed fairly recently. Its a tricky one because we do know it causes resentment amongst some parts of the board, but others don't see it as an issue.

Perhaps I'll start a thread to discuss this and brainstorm ideas about how we proceed in future. Thanks for raising TTK.

Huckabee offered some bizarre comparisons for when Christians are asked to accept marriage equality. “It’s like asking someone who’s Jewish to start serving bacon-wrapped shrimp in their deli,” he said. “We don’t want to do that — I mean, we’re not going to do that. Or like asking a Muslim to serve up something that is offensive to him, or to have dogs in his backyard.”

I don't know who Huckabee is but if he's serious that is frigging hilarious .

The older I get, the less sense people like that make to me. I mean, I've never understood that kind of bigotry don't get me wrong but I've always associated it with an older generation thing. But if anything as I've got older my attitude's tilted even further towards "whatever, people have to make themselves happy any way they can, why stand in their way", so I just don't get it.

My headphones died. Not my studio cans, just the ones I use for everyday stuff, walking round and travelling etc. But I use them for at least 3 hours every day. Without them that's 3 very boring hours. I just paid an extortionate amount of money to have a new pair delivered tomorrow. But that's still too far away. I need them NOW.

I just recently bought headphones again, I was using in-ears for all that time, I'm so glad I have one again. The quality of headphones is just 100x better man. I carry it with me basically anywhere I go, haha.

I was using some Atari headphones I got from HMV for about £15. My first pair lasted me 2 years. They weren't amazing, but I was familiar with them. They were proper headphones, not ear buds, I can't stand those.

I just got my new pair, Sennheiser HD201. Checking them out now, they are lovely. What I wanted was something cheap, but with a flat response. I can't stand headphones with "EXTENDED BASS" and all that shit. I want to hear the music as the artist intended! I also use them as another reference to check my own mixes (as well as my monitors, my home stereo speakers, and my Audio Technica ATHM50's), to see what they sound like on regular listening headphones. So I wanted something neutral.

I can thoroughly recommend these Sennheisers. Nice and detailed, without any hyped frequencies. Lets just hope they are durable!

Hi forton.

I've had a pair of senn HD598s (the really tacky looking ones) for a few years now, and they are lovely. But what I will say about them is that it is not the 'music as the artist intended', their response is far from flat. They have accentuated treble and very thin, weak bass. They are detailed and are wonderful for classical and jazz, but they do not work well with a lot of other music.

Maybe your model is different but that's my experience for you. They are still very nice headphones but quite specialised, a bit cold maybe.

HD280pro all the way. Closed back, monitoring headphones and built like a tank! We have a thread for headphones somewhere I think?

Yeah buried somewhere, I recall.

These days the ATH-M50s are my mainstay, but I use loudspeakers at home. So I only use headphones when travelling now. I miss the detail a bit because my speakers at home are a pair of old bose ones, with a middling integrated amp. But I prefer the openness. It feels more natural.

You have no idea how much I agree, but some of them do want to make friends.

Final post for the evening. I've been in a "mad at the world" funk for a week now. Miss my dog, had to put her to sleep last week. I'm angry about it, because she was rad enough to deserve to live forever! Rant over...goodnight all.

Do they have a detachable cable? Can you get them with 3.5mm jack?

Not detachable. Replaceable yes. But pretty sure they come with an adaptor too.

Why do people open Steam, and start team fortress 2, only to join a server and make their player characters dance?

And then when I start killing people, which is you know THE POINT OF PLAYING THE BLOODY GAME, I get people complaining and asking why I'm ruining the fun.

Do they seriously start the game with the sole intention to turn the entire server into a giant conga line?
