A have a wee personal theory on the progression of BoC's albums explained elsewhere, and it says that the next album will be (musically) 80s/90s influenced, but how that might manifest itself, I've no idea - maybe a bit of shoegaze, they've admitted to being fans in the past? Thematically, who knows? I suppose there was a kind of light-dark-light-dark progression so far, so maybe some sunlight to TH's shadow? If we're talking about expecting the unexpected, maybe even some singing?

MHTRTC and Geogaddi are not just light and dark albums. MHTRTC has this nice atmosphere of childhood, but it also shows you the mysteries of the world and the bad things about it. Geogaddi is pretty cheery in places, too

whenever i think about whats next for BOC, i play this song, like some kind of loading song. oh boy well i enjoyed TH, but i wouldnt say i want a continuation. Id say a new direction would be better. Perhaps a mix and mash of all four albums........... :?:

Indeed. It's tricky to express one's full meaning in a concise way on an internet forum, hence the 'I suppose there was a kind of' qualifier in that general statement.
You should try not to take the meaning of people's posts at just face value, try reading between the lines a bit, give the person you're replying to a bit of credit.

Well said indeed, but lets all of us (especially me) remember that these discussions would sound alot more warm, friendly and supportive if we were all sat together in our local boozer, rather than pinging text across oceans like ICBMs.

The internet is fantastic at one thing - enabling perfectly innocent comments be honestly misunderstood by others. I keep reminding myself of this every day ;-)

Group hug!

I love that REFORESTATION AREA video,if only it was Boc at 0.55, looks great with that tired vhs look.

But the music is a track called YOU by ZAPHYD/ZAPHID you can find him on You Tube, he has some great old retro synthesisers and you can listen to him on Soundcloud. :)

However, I am interested to see how they compartmentalise their work.

If, as it is said, they have been working on different albums simultaneously, it would take an enormous amount of focus and discipline to separate each work and not allow stylistic characteristics to overlap.

yes, it could go either way. they kept ties using an ep after TCH, if this was an album that kept ties with TH then it could be more upbeat with contrasting subject matter or not at all. TH has a lot more in it, a lot more to lead off from. i'd say they had a seriously hard time tying it together to make it sound cohesive. i don't think they just decided one day "ok we're going to make it sound like this, about this etc" i'd say it came about half away after listening to so much stuff, finding connections etc.

they must have mountains of music.

Well, a few mounths ago I was searching for the director of it, and I found this creepypasta website - I guess the video was made just for it:
