Shlohmo - Emerge From Smoke

Listening to this one as part of a stream in the New York Times website of his next album, Dark Red. I'm loving the album so much, so far. Really dream-y and surprising beats. The guy is a master.
Best BoC songs (in no specific order): Melissa Juice (my favourite one), Reach for the Dead, New Seeds, Music Is Math, Gyroscope, Turquoise Hexagon Sun, Seeya Later, Everything You Do Is A Baloon, White Cyclosa, and Roygbiv

^ good shout: I'm going to go on a Stereolab binge tonight.

Now Playing: Panda Bear - Take Pills

For some reason Person Pitch passed my by when it came out, but picked a copy up in a charity shop last week and it's a lovely album. Been playing it lots to help usher in the spring...

...in between plays of the Daphne & Celeste tune, obviously...

Incidentally I've discovered Broadcast recently. Come on let's go is a pure genius track. Very cinematic, vivid.

Re-reading 'The Ambient Century' at the moment, at the bit about the development of minimalist music.

Before discovering (and loving) BoC, I listened a lot to Air - and I think that somehow, both those tastes relate. Some early BoC songs remind me of what Air does, in a way - even though I would say that Air is "easier" to get into. For instance :

Porn Sword Tobacco - New Exclusive Olympic Heights

Pretty good record. Sounds quite BoC-esque in places. Probably best you don't Google them though.

I've also been listening to Mike Patton's soundtrack to The Place Beyond The Pines for the past few days. Beautiful film, beautiful soundtrack.

Ended up listening to Margarine Eclipse based on Fujee's earlier posting.

It is mixed amazingly, the dual mono setup is wonderful and adds a whole new dimension to the music. Wonderful album with great melody and harmony between the two channels.

Also I should add that I love bands who show that they really know what they are doing through their music. Stereolab exudes confidence in their skills on this album, it is wonderful. Everything is so perfect about the sound, really tightly pulled together without feeling sterile or strained.
