I like the sound of it, its like AFOT and SAW having a baby.

I was hoping the beat would start "properly" halfway through, with a sharper kick and a defining snare. Pmmm Pshhh.

I like the breathy bass thing that kicks in but its a bit of a shame it doesnt do anything with the melody. Like TTK mentioned, the melody is repetitive in nature, which can be totally fine, but there are interesting things you can do with repetition. A thing you could do is changing the melody just by changing the chord with the bass. Example: http://vocaroo.com/i/s0upwelUmavq

This way the repetition makes sense and the melody has a real reason to repeat and all you had to do was work out the bassline a little. I guess the choices you make should be made to appear more intentional like that and have everything work together. It also feels like its all loops of the same length and start and end all at the same time. Can you imagine how that could break a certain flow?

Of course, as with all musical suggestions, that's just what I would do if it was my song. You got to do it the way you want to do it and figure out what works for you by yourself.

One suggestion that might work universal is don't stop working on it. See the song as if it where a story with beginning, middle, end, interesting characters and maybe even some plot-twists and don't forget that books are a chore to read if its just the same few pages repeating over and over again.

A challenge I would like to suggest is to try to make a melody at least four times as long as you make them now and try have them change key and maybe even scale throughout without any repetition. Setting my DAW time-signature to 16/4 or if I'm feeling brave, 32/4, helped me a lot with that.

Thank you Cupz and TTK for some needed encouragement and constructive criticism. I was stuck on this song as to what to do next with it. So I rendered it to put up so that fine folk like you can throw suggestions my way. I will continue to work on this song and a few others I have going, which I'll let you guys in on sometime soon.

I was experimenting with some synths and ended up making an entire song in a day. It's not finished yet, but it's basically a load of really beautiful, ambient sounding Sitar samples I recorded matched with these beats that keep layering and interweaving and changing.

Maybe I'll upload it to soundcloud when it sounds better and much more cohesive

I'm actually am working on something entirely different at the moment, but in the process of digging through old samples to see if I could find some I never used that'd do the job, I found a 15 second clip of a track that I wasn't sure was actually mine until I checked a few things out. It's an old outtake belonging to the same niche as an old ambient techno track on the Powernap album called Point of Compass, hence the reason it was probably not included...there was something already in that place. However, that track ended up being way more popular than I thought it would be (what I thought being that nobody would hear it ever) so I've decided to upload this one as well. Nothing special, but interesting like all the other tracks I unearth that I've totally forgotten.

Nice one Rodheh. Sounds like it could be something from RDJ's soundcloud dump of recent times.

That little snippit of a tune at the end of the track was funky. I like it! :P

Hey y'all. Sorry I've not been around much recently. I'll try to remedy this soon. I've a lot on my plate just now.

Anyway, I guess this is a pop song. So it's possibly poptastic.

I finally finished my new LP! I've been working on it for an entire year, and it is nothing like anything I've ever made. I'm going on a short holiday soon to shoot some music videos to accompany three of the tracks on the album.
It should be released 28/09, same date as my last LP release.

I was in an art gallery and suddenly a choir started singing. Turns out most of the people I thought were looking round the gallery were actually a choir in disguise. But there was also a baby crying.

so naturally I got my phone out and recorded some sounds.

Then this happened:

Not 100% finished (or mixed, sorry about the horrible stereo field management), but I thought I'd try something down in hip hop this time. I'd love to hear feedback!

Yet another aimless side project, this time a collab. Not totally aimless.

Trying to make music with someone you don't inherently work well with because it's hard to translate your own interests or ideas to them and that person also has a lot of time constraints in their life is a very difficult process. Now seeing my collaborator's strengths, I'm getting the sense that perhaps what we've been trying to make for a long time now should just be an ambient thing. It wouldn't be what either of us really want, I don't think, but we'd get something done at least.

This one could be a lot more.

This has a good basis but there's nothing to put on top at the moment.

This one ended up being way more of a compressed Basinski sort of thing, which is fine except that's not what I want to do, not what we want to do necessarily. I mean if you like that sort of thing, I suppose people welcome more if the ultimate product and not a work in progress is good, and regardless of style we're nowhere near that, but I want to have been working on projects that include session musicians and lyrics, probably. I swear, I've suffered the worst bout of creative block for a long time now. Probably the reason I haven't really wanted to release something since 2013 and even that was forced and with other people. If I could feel okay for a second then I'd probably be motivated. Unfortunately I'm not motivated at all unless I'm meeting a standard that's at least greatly high.

So here's some (as of this moment) throwaway track foundations.
Okay...now...wait for fog machine.

That's really good. I like the key change at the end a lot. It's often manipulative, but you pull it off. The video is really cool and quite menacing, but I don't know why. The dude in the rooster mask is a great touch. The song is actually kind of scary too. I dig it. When it started it reminded me of a psychotic Beach Boys, which isn't to say that it seemed derivative.

I read the project name as Atlantis Mantis, and then I saw that it was Atlanta. I still kinda think it initially said Atlantis and then changed when I wasn't looking...

Here's a psychedelic instrumental technopop song that I made last week. I guess it's not pop since it doesn't have a pop song structure, but it feels like pop music to me.
