I've actually been meaning to make a BoC video. Only gained interest in this after someone mentioned how many "generic stock footage + aviation and/or rockets + family videos from the 70s or 80s" videos for BoC there are that it almost seems like it has to be some kind of law and I realized that
they actually never even did that - fans started that whole thing.
BoC's official videos are generally more abstract with an affinity for subtle comedic bits. If not that then just kaleidoscopic, vaguely "Alex Grey on downers" sort of psychedelic imagery.
Track is Chinook. It's nearly impossible to explain without coming off as sort of a "what?" idea for the track and BoC in general though and it'll only really make sense when I shoot the thing and put it together, but for lack of a better description, it involves a young (mid twenties) person, gender isn't that important but it's a she so far in my head...S/he's isolated , living in the depths of a crowded, maze-like city where everything is drab and mildly sterile. They start practicing what I can only describe (without any visual component to show) as this pyromancy of sorts and utilize it to destroy all of these barriers around them that prevent escape. Whole thing is kind of interspersed with shots of others 'imprisoned' in their own different environments who could never quite make it out. They become the monotonous co-workers at the office, annoying guys in traffic, religious followers, hyperactive consumers, et al. Hollow people with false contentedness. They're masked to appear totally faceless. The 'protagonist' is pursued by growing hordes of them who almost float around like ghosts a little more than they are hostile. Eventually s/he makes it to the periphery, out from and around where s/he was in the beginning, but there's either some sort of corner/wall or perhaps a cliff and nothing beyond it. S/he is eventually surrounded and the video ends with a repeating cycle of knocking back and defending her/himself from the crowd with her/his aforementioned ability, just to have the process repeat. Sort of a match cut with the very beginning of the video that loops as it fades out once the track's beat goes full reverse and quickly fades as well. Video has a filter of sorts over 70% looking like a basic audio visualization that matches the track and provides transitions for some cuts.
It sounds odd but it's pretty good, unfortunately I can't just take the images in my head and explain them effectively though so it'll sound stupid until I actually make it.
Other idea was far more simple. Track was Mansel with a plainly shot video of a shady man hanging around different cities that become increasingly foreign and unsettling. Would use a similar visualizer effect except they'd be little jitters and spikes on lines rotoscoped over certain things and the whole video would be colorized very dim, shadowed with that whole film noir style of saturating only a few things.
As of right now, I have
this joke, but I did also use that video source along set to BoC in full. Just never uploaded it because it wasn't particularly interesting to me.
