I noticed on Hey Saturday Sun was a guitar sounding suspiciously like a Fender Jazzmaster or Jaguar, I could be wrong on that, but those guitars have the type of vibrato (mislabeled tremolo by fender) needed to do precise pitch bending as heard. They have a certain aura about them that isn't easy to replicate on other guitars.

The guitar on Hey Saturday Sun sounds more like a Telecaster to me

Awesome. It sounds like BoC made the version that played in the mix-tape considerably more echoed in the voice. BoC did some really interesting things with this one, although it takes some real focusing to pick apart the differences. Sometimes I wonder how BoC even finds this music! I bet they've some traveling which influences them. I wouldn't be surprised at all if I learned they were history buffs. They seem to be quite interested in other cultures and the historical significance behind different societies. I totally dig the placement of the Indian tracks on Societas X.

I've been reflecting on the broadcast these past few days and it's surreal to think about how we were all tuned into a collective experience around BOC's music – just like we were six years ago for Tomorrow's Harvest. Alone with your headphones or stereo but also together. There's also something surreal about BOC releasing something outside the boundaries of a new album. It's fun to think about Societas X Tape as having the side-effect of preparing their listenership's subconscious for whatever's next.

Yes! Absolutely! What an experience.

I have a theory, what if that postpunk song we can't seem to figure out is actually made by Cement Gravel & Rock?

I haven't been keeping up with the thread. What is the timestamp for the track in question?
From what I can gather, Cement Gravel Rock were a group that performed at Disneyland (I am not sure if it was a regular show, but certainly more than once) in the early seventies. The clips unearthed show 1973. That would be a tad early for it to be postpunk unfortunately.

Inb4 someone writes me an essay claiming that post punk has its origins in 1930s Uganda.

Also, does this make my initial feeling (years ago) that they were saying "aaahh Disney" in Aquarius version 3 any more valid?

It is clearly something akin to "I'm listening" but still...

^ Thanks!
This sounds like it could be a tad earlier than a lot of post-punk, actually. So it isn't impossible.

I’ve listened to the mix multiple times since Sunday with noise-canceling headphones. It’s definitely “I’m listening.”

Oh, it is. I was just joking really.
A few years ago that is what I thought it said.

Before I heard it was "I'm listening" I thought it was "Rice Krispies" and they took it from a jingle. Was a long time ago too.

Please stop saying "a long time ago" until we find the damn source of that post-punk band

On a more serious note I was looking for it on bandcamp with the tag post-punk and saw that She Past Away released a new album, fuckiiiing siiiick. So thank you BoC for that

No results from searching for various strings of lyric from the track, sadly.
Listening to the mix, there are two guitars and possibly a female vocal backing. It is quite believable that it could potentially come from the group we see in the picture, although uncertain.

It also sounds like a Gibson SG (the guitar seen in the picture) but don't quote me on that.

My bad. I'm not doing any sleuthing, more just watching you guys! It's always fun watching people unravel BOC mysteries on here.
