Yeah some weird coincidences with the Doxa track but lets not assume that they are on some nostradamus tip and can build pre hype from back in the 80s. It's probably such an old favourite of theirs that they just took various influences and used them in their music i.e. track names.
The bit that could be implied as giving us clues to their next release is kinda odd though but probably us looking too hard for something.

Oh shit, pardon me, Iasos was in the first Broadcast mix, not BoC's.
It wouldn't surprise me if there's overlap in their taste though.

The jazz snippet at 52:33 freaks me out every time, for some reason.

Maybe my brain subconsciously pairs it with the Shining ballroom or something Lynch-esque?

Whatever it is, that fucking music on degraded tape is pure nightmare fuel lol

Which particular one are you talking about?
At 52:33 (at least on the version I listen to) it is mid-track during something else. This is another good reason to identify the tracks by number rather than timestamp. I will work on that if people can forgive me for writing that 111 x 3 was 666 when I was tired last night

Are you referring to this portion? I reversed it on the evening and 23degreesdream found that it was Little Star by the Elegants.

Should probably add that to the list if you are still around, Mexi.

There have been several obscure references on the web to BoC being in a band called “Wheeltower” before they were BoC. There’s no Hightower as far as I know.

Thanks SamuraiDrifter. What I was replying to was someone saying that Wheeltower was in a Steve Guttenberg film (Police Academy) with a character called "Wheeltower". But that character was called actually called Hightower.

Its true, that was Hightower in Police Academy and the Wheeltower reference is to the fact that it was a pre Boards of Canada title for Mike, Marcus and Christ.

Xaugh wasn't having a particularly good day at the time.

On a similar note, but unrelated to the above. I am sorry for being mathematically slow at times. It was never my strong point, but even I should have seen that while I was writing it. I don't mean to continue bringing it up, but it is bothering me.

Using this version as a ref: https://youtu.be/plaq5jvFBbY

It's right between the sample of the guy talking and Garden Botanum.

The drone-y synth part? I'm not hearing jazz in that.

I know exactly what he’s talking about. It’s right after the spooky voice that says “here in the window/wind tunnel the fearful forces [unintelligible] and one day we shall know.”

There’s some kind of sample of jazz music there, heavily distorted and delayed, both before and during the Garden Botanum song.

At 56:29, my favourite melody of the track itself is entirely halted/shut off, and a strange deep voice overtakes the song, only to resume after. It is not in the original track (lol) and it is clearly intentional. "Here in the wind tunnel, the fearful forces stop (unintelligible) by proxy. And one day, we shall know..." Someone help break down what this could mean, cause my brain is totally trying to melt figuring this one out. I'm pretty sure if I were locked in a room for 10 years with the sole purpose of figuring out the meaning behind that quote, I still wouldn't be able to do it.

Sounded like Munchausen by proxy to me -- Possibly the darkest spoken word sample they brought to the mix, with swine flu as the runner-up... Nicole just happened to watch a particularly disturbing documentary on this subject just a few weeks before the Societas broadcast, so this sample hit hard -- The mind of a human can be a terrifying place!

The indian vocal sample that starts at 1:08:55. and repeats a few times is:

Mohammed Rafi - Mere Mitwa Mere Meet Re (II)

Nice. It was kind of stagnating for a while followed by two adjacent finds.
I don't think we will ever be able to reach the stage whereby process of elimination means that we can identify whether a track is BoC or not, though. Too many variables and too many artists that might not have their music available online but nevertheless will have a track or two of theirs in the brother's tape collection.

What about that WXAXRXP Bleepstore? So far the page is empty. I wonder if there's going the be anything from the Societas X Tape there.

They're probably trying to figure out how to monetise the warp 10 bootleg without looking like cunts.

Absolutely no problem. I never really noticed how Maritime Tatami seems to speak of a boy who wants off a boat to explore the city while Game of Despair seems to speak of a girl who wants to hop on a boat and leave the city. Kind of a neat continuity there.

In their last email, Warp said "Look out for the WXAXRXP mark throughout the rest of 2019."

Surely referring to the bleep store, but who knows what or when. I was thinking the Autechre Warp Tapes would be sold, but not now that they're available for free.

I don't think anything from the BoC tape lends itself to being sold as part of this.
