Someone told me this is the first time it's happened in 800 years. I think you're supposed to be able to see it best at 4:30 PMish EST (US).

Someone mentioned this already, but I do think it would be amazing if they did something on the North Pole.

Interesting, in Warp's last section of their "story" on insta, the circle is now BLACK (instead of white) on one half and violet on the other.

The Warp 2020 site is a clever marketing scheme if the last section is filled by BOC. It's basically Warp saying, "Hey BOC fans, I know you're here for the new album/box set/whatever, but check out these other great artists you can buy for the holidays."

A cheeky move, but you realize that would work.

This new update, beyond just the beatink campaign, is definitely a victory lap for the label. I don’t think we will see anything squeezed in before the end of the the year—my bet is this is the complete 2020 catalog.

Boeing 747’s first flight was Feb. 9, 1969. I’ve read all the theories and my bet is for a BOC album to be released on February 9, 2021. The beatink campaign page says that it will go until mid-February.

I think one or two of the three dates discussed will involve an announcement and/or single release: 12/14 (eclipse), 12/21 (great conjunction/solstice), 1/23 (pioneer last transmission anniversary). I’m less convinced by the eclipse/adult swim theory.

The eclipse on 12/14 is only visible in the southern hemisphere- seems like a pretty tenuous connection. And for all BoC's numerology shenanigans on records, they've never actually extended those to release dates as far as I can tell (the closest they got was announcing Trans Canada Highway for 6-6-06, but ended up releasing it early anyway).

I'm quite certain a new album is in the works, I'd doubt if it's more than a year out at this point just based on their online activity and the amount of time since TH, but I suspect it will be released with little to no warning on a seemingly random date. I'd love to be proven wrong, though.

What we do know is that this is the Warp 2020 catalog, so whatever goes into the (magic) window will have to be in 2020. I agree it's probably a single, if it is in fact BOC. It'll be the Reach For The Dead for this hypothetical new album.

Didn't someone post a 2001 Space Odyssey sample that is in Happy Cycling, I think that is possibly correct. And that was the Monolith scene. Monkeys gauping at it wondering what it is, kinda what the public are doing with these monoliths. Not saying that there is a link but you can find links if you want.
So you think my eclipse on the 14th theory has legs then? I guess anything is plausible at the moment.
You could feel the bullshit

Anyone figured out why Autechre's PLUS isn't featured on Warp's new microsite? Granted, SIGN got most of the marketing due to the nature of how everything was unveiled, but regardless, PLUS is still a full length album from one of Warp's most iconic acts. I'd like to know why a Bibio EP and a FlyLo instrumental LP (of tunes from a 2019 album) have taken priority.

Also, I noticed the 'eclipse' design is the website favicon. It could literally represent the 2020 catalog and nothing else? Excuse my cynicism - as a BoC fan I've been conditioned to distance myself from any optimism.

Agreed, it could represent just the catalog and nothing else. I just wonder why they would bother changing the circle from half-white to half-black? Why make the change? Mountain/mole-hill, but it just seems so intentional.

A very fair thought, but honestly, and this is probably just my natural optimism speaking, why would they need a fancy website to list stuff we already know?

Is it just a narcissistic site saying, "Look at all the great releases we released this year! We're the best label ever" or is there a deeper reason to it.

Honestly, I'm open to either interpretation, but I think there's more to this site than simply a victory lap. That said, you could be right too. I see everything in relatives.

Yeah, it all hinges on that Adult Swim post.... we'll find out for sure in 6 days.

If the new album reveal is part of that Warp 2020 site, represented by that last slot, then the reveal would be on next wednesday the 16th, as Warp has been posting one album per day starting with Be Up A Hello on Monday.
Who knows though, probably this is just an end of the year minisite as it appears to be.

I'm fairly certain they always do an end-of-year recap on their social channels, so the victory lap concept is nothing new for Warp, however I think this could be the first time they've launched a microsite for it?

Seems like a pointless move considering the releases page on their actual website does all of the above, and more. Makes you wonder if there's another motive?

See, if it was the 14th, I'd be more hopeful for the eclipse date. (And that math assumes they do these posts on the weekend, which I'm not sure they will.)

The eclipse idea is fun, but I think this makes more sense. Warp still haven't announced any new releases (last year, there was a big hype for the new Squarepusher around this time. Remember those "something else" boxes?) so I think this will be a countdown to their final release/announcement of the year.

If it's a BOC single/album pre-order, right before the holidays, that would be perfect. And then Jan 2021 could be the actual release.

I'm actually down with thinking this, without much skepticism. As I've said before, nothing left to lose and everything to gain. :) If not, I'll just go back to listening to the rest of Warp's awesome catalog and finding more great songs.

Yeah, I've been thinking back to 2013 when TH dropped (I was on Twoism under a different name back then) and how awesome it was discussing all the tracks as they played during the initial transmission.

Re-reading some of those threads, I'm coming across posts I missed that point out details in the album I hadn't noticed before, even YEARS after it came out.

It's weird, but I'm looking forward to reading their new song titles most of all. They have this absolutely slanted way of naming their songs that is amazing.
