Imagine if they have been building up to a gamelan performance of MHTRTC this whole time, and that was the only thing they had in the works

I mean it'll probably be cool but I'd be pretty disappointed if that was all they had after eight years. BoC and Warp haven't retweeted it or acknowledged it yet. If this was their next big thing I'd assume either of them they would have at least acknowledged it...

Yeah, it was New Zealand for ages, if not the entire time. I remember thinking how fitting it was that BoC lived in such a perfectly isolated country, I think I recall at least one of the bros saying they lived there, could be wrong about that.

But one things for sure, it definitely used to say New Zealand on their YT.

In this interview that I posted earlier, it mentions that Mike was thinking of moving to NZ back in 2005. I don't recall if there's any direct evidence that he did actually move there.

Not sure if the link works, but it's on bocpages.org/wiki/Protect_and_Survive_(interview)

Great interview, by the way.

One of the TH interviews mentioned that some of the album was written in NZ. Some of the music from TH were written before TCH was released from what I gather and Mike certainly had links to NZ in the early to mid 00's. Maybe the youtube channel was never updated upon return and they are doing a spot of housekeeping!

That Gamelan take on MHRTTC isn't bad at all, so it wouldn't be a complete disappointment.

I'm relatively new to this forum as a registered user, so I hadn't really kept up with this thread over the years. I went back and re-read some of the posts in early 2013. There were a lot of 'small' leaks that something was definitely coming, leading up to the record store day drop of the 6 vinyls. Various users here and on WATMM who had a record of being correct for other albums said an album was imminent. We've had NONE of that this year, have we? Other than a shady reddit dude who was wrong. As far as I can tell, the only "official" evidence we have is that an official account has "liked" fans asking "is a new album coming?"

Going back through this thread is pretty amusing. Same things repeated over and over through the years, like we're in the Matrix

I had been a lurker up until 2011, but when 2013's RSD thing hit, hooooly shit. The TH campaign was absolutely incredible, and this place was going NUTS (in the best way possible).

Good times.

i would argue that the Hell Interface banner is still highly suspicious as it is a new image from them. i would call it "official evidence" for sure personally. of what? not totally sure, but it means something. those Pioneer Plaque images from years ago were not the same. this banner has been altered, perhaps even just merely as a sign of hope for fans. but even if so, that is still communicating something.

i'm also still just as intrigued about the Adult Swim clips, and i think we shouldall keep an eye on their pages.

also, it is a little interesting that something allegedly did happen today with that location change.

seems random, like probably a coincidence.... but, still hard to ignore.

i mean i do imagine the bro's probably realized fans would be looking at this date.

maybe not though

Here's what we've had:

-Back in 2009 MDG said there was "more than one record in an advanced stage."
-Back in 2018, someone local to Scotland said they had mutual friends with the band and that a new album was "halfway done."
-Recent YT Banner update
-Recent increased social media activity, including liking a post that said "like this if you're going to release more music."
-Recent adjustments to social media stuff including FB, Instagram, and YouTube.

All this points to there being a new album eventually, but all of the specific date predictions are just totally random shots in the dark based on next to nothing. The next album could come next week or next decade.

**EDIT** Didn't see that the soundcrash music has already been posted. Mods feel free to delete this post.

I also like this comment by MDG, in June 2011 (sorry I didn't copy the link, just the text):

"All I can say is that it was never traditional for an audience to be privy to the machinations of an artist, filmmaker, musician, or author until the internet (and specifically blog websites) were invented.

By the time Peter Jackson releases his new movies, some of his audience will have already seen much of the film on his Facebook blog and other websites.
Do any of you guys remember the days when something wonderful just appeared out of the blue, without having had it all explained away and spoiled in advance?"

-MDG

Having been born in the 70s, I do remember those days. It's hard to believe, but if it wasn't in a magazine, newspaper, encyclopedia, radio, or word of mouth, basically you'd know nothing until you found the record in the shop.

BoC basically achieved this same feeling with TH, with the RSD code vinyls. I have to imagine they will still want as little advanced notice as possible (though it seems that historically they do drop definite clues for their most die-hard fans).

I think they need to finish their 5-album contract with Warp, then they can go the Radiohead route and just release stuff themselves whenever they want, no warning or 'campaign'!

"We'd much rather that people find our music by themselves, you know, so that it's something that feels like it belongs to them. If it was up to us there would be no promotion for our music at all."

it's definitely a little bit retarded to say "next decade" in my opinion, but i get it... i guess.

It was on Facebook in a BOC fan group. Mexicola posted the screenshot a few hundred pages back.
