A pretty simple interpretation of Sixtyniner's find is that the Pioneer Plaque image was actually just thrown together for the Sheol channel 7 years ago and doesn't necessarily mean much about a next album theme or anything.

But why then use it everywhere else? Some of their other channels don't have a banner at all...

This is total speculation of course, but maybe that and Whitney just ended up in the 'bank' of material to throw around.

But I'm not arguing against the potential of the recent activity to perhaps indicate something.

Well, unless it is all just a big, very impressive hoax by a fan. That caveat always has to be there given what we've seen in the past. But I'm having trouble not buying the legitimacy at this point.

I can't imagine how a hoaxer would get these matching dates.. it would be absolute madness!

I actually think an avid Twoism user would be more keen on the dates, considering that's what we were talking about for a whole while now. But yeah, this definetely can't be a troll. Unless they played the long game... of almost 10 years.

We have to remember what they have said in an interview and I'll say it again and again until it sinks into all of you.

I don't think so- they've recently started adding that banner onto other channels- specifically the Hell Interface YouTube and FB accounts. They hinted at the theme of Tomorrow's Harvest years ahead of time with a nuclear mushroom cloud banner- it's hard to escape the feeling that this recurring image, appearing more and more frequently, has some kind of significance.

How wild is it that these accouts and pics have (apparently) been around so long and it's only now they're being discovered. I don't even care if there is a new album coming or not (directly related to these latest bread crumbs) - this has just been...well....weirdly fun!

Let's not forget that this tweet was liked by BoC...

This got me thinking... and looking at old interviews, and this one stuck out:

From the Hardware Addicts interview (https://bocpages.org/wiki/Hardware_Addicts)

[Will there be more releases on Music70 and what else can we hear from you in the future?

MS: Music will certainly be released in the future, but at the moment we have too many other projects. On Skam will be an album in CD format to appear and I hope that we can finish it in the next 6 to 8 weeks. In addition, we will make a single and then an album for Mike Paradina's label Planet-μ. He had received a copy of the Twoism-EP, which came out in January '96 and contains material from the summer '95. One of the tracks ( "See ya later") was then also on the B side of the Skam-EP. Mike got a hold of this record somehow and then a few months later also called.]

I'd never heard of the "Planet-μ" connection before, does anyone know if that ever happened or was mentioned again? I'm currently looking through the Planet-μ releases to see if anything jumps out, but it's a lot to sift.

I’ve been of the mind that the pioneer plaque is more of just an aesthetic thing, like just another part of the mood board of images they include alongside a lot of their releases. Trying to read dates or a theme of “space” into it feels like reaching.

But on another level, I think the appeal of the pioneer plaque is that it represents an attempt at a communication using some really primal, first order bits of shared knowledge shot out across truly unfathomable distance. The “acoustic space” of BoC (to borrow McLuhan’s term) is vast as fuck and maybe part of why we listen so intently and why we hear so much is that in a way it’s coming to us from far away.

Anyway — I’m not gonna get my hopes up to much but still happy for any crumbs on the trail. They could release another 26 seconds from a faded recording of Duffy as their only activity for the rest of 2021 and I’d still be over the moon.
preparation for a dive.

AH, cool. The reprise and remix were on my radar, but I hadn't connected the dots to Planet-µ (which i admittedly should have).

I was thinking they might have released some stuff under that label under a different artist name, based on what they said in that article about doing a single and an album.

What if they're doing the opposite of what we have been figuring out?

We were all hooked on numerology with the pioneer stuff but ultimately decided that that wasn't what was happening, and then lo and behold, they post to the HI facebook page on the HI YouTube/Pioneer 11 anniversary...

We find the HI Facebook so we wait for more posts there, and then they delete those and black out the account...

We notice that it's been one burst of activity per day, and then from the next day till now, no activity...

This, tied with the possible confirmation with the "Heard From The Telegraph Lines" post is suspicious.

Could all be nothing (it's probably nothing) but what if it's intentional?

Dear Mr & Mr Canadas,

Please do not release any more music but if you do, please don't release it soon.

Thank you.

There are no stupid questions, and as a result of bringing that up, the authenticity of the footage has been solidified.

I used to be more resistant to this idea that the pioneer plaque had any thematic significance, but I'm starting to think there's something to it. Consider the shifts in tone between BoC albums -

Music Has the Right to Children- light (childhood, nature, documentaries)
Geogaddi - dark (religion, psychedelia, a "trial by fire")
The Campfire Headphase - light (travel, expansiveness, fire)
Tomorrow's Harvest - dark (apocalypse, technology, sci-fi)

Going off of this, it's reasonable to assume that their next release will continue the pattern by presenting a lighter side to themes explored in TH. And what better symbol for this than the Pioneer plaque? As opposed to the negative aspects of technological development, a project like the Pioneer plaques was powered by optimism and hope in something beyond. Its cousin, the Voyager Golden Record, has been criticized for being TOO optimistic about humanity, since the images imprinted on it have no evidence of the war and poverty that is a part of life on Earth.

Coupled with the 60s and 70s psychedelia explored on the Societas X mix, I wonder if they may be longing to release something that re-captures the futuristic excitement of where technology could take us - a feeling that has now been largely consumed by fear, especially after 2020. The time has never been better.

Of course, Boards have always been interested in defying expectations, so it could also end up being a grindcore album.

You left out Left Side Drive and Twoism. which entirely breaks your pattern.

Mathematicians anyway will tell you that 2 occurence of something does not make enough evidence to support a pattern at all.

Albums mate ;)!

I don't find MHTRTC light at all, I find it dark in the main. I think we're giving them too much kudos on their vision. I really don't think they had a great amount of forethought about their career. They'll be coming up with ideas as they go like any normal person but they could use past ideas to influence their present which I guess is why we all start to think the way that we do about them and what to expect for their future releases.
I do think the space theme is a bit flimsy and wishy washy too, it's too specific without being specific at all. None of their other albums have solid themes, they have many interwoven ideas that allude to themes but no album can be defined by one solid idea. You'll argue that they can but when you try and explain it, you'll use many words to describe them, try it, just like the comment further up.
I like the idea, as briefly mentioned above that the feel of their latest output, albeit not all their own work had a 60's summer of love vibe, and I mentioned this when they did the sometimes remix and their production felt very 60s influenced, but maybe it's more a look to the future from that era, which would place their music target right back to their personal nostalgic era. The 80s were considered futuristic and we thought we'd see silver suits and flying cars by then. I think we could possibly be hearing some "tomorrow's world" vibes and even samples from things like that.

Well, I'm not going entirely off my own feelings for those descriptors. BoC have described the albums themselves in those light / dark terms. But it's true that just one term doesn't capture them. You need a bit of contrast to accent the overall hue.

I get the feeling perhaps they put the Pioneer's Plaque banner on the Hell Interface channel so more people would see it in the first place! Perhaps they did it to be like "you guys missed this clue! a long time ago"

I'm honestly starting to think the only reason why they changed that profile picture on the HI facebook was to direct us to a long forgotten clue of the Tomorrow's Harvest ARG, that we missed the first time around. Starting to doubt the activity was hinting at anything new. Rather to point at a clue from the past.
