Seems out of character don't you think? But what do I know? I not saying they can't make fun of anyone they want, but does that really sound like something they actually would do? They're teenage edgelords on the internet all of a sudden? Is someone going to figure out their tripcodes next? Are we going to discover their Kiwi Farms accounts? Come on now.

how are they making fun?

i think you are misinterpreting their use of that image.

if anything it's meant to be scary / creepy, i don't see how it's "making fun".. it is shocking, you could say it's controversial, but i don't see any blatant disrespect or anything.

I think it's 50/50. The same could be said for the references to David Koresh and the Branch Davidians. I mean to the layman who doesn't read their interviews, they could easily be taken the wrong way. There were devil and demon references in a lot of tracks, and Hell Interface seems to create music that is a hybrid of their devil music and 80s r&b.

On the other hand, there are some suspicions held by a few people that this isn't them and it's a troll. That would definitely fit the personage of a "teenage edge lord on the internet."

However, one thing I do know about BOC social media is that they're quick to remove the offending post if they offend someone. During the Societas X Tape event, someone made a twitter post that upset a lot of people that the BOC twitter had liked. The BOC twitter quickly unliked it. Could be why they blacked out the James Brown and Whitney Houston memes.

I might be, but it seems so wildly out of left field to pick such low hanging fruit that it just doesn't make any sense to me at all. It would be the same if it was Lady Diana or John Denver. Who knows? Maybe there's an INXS remix we have yet to find whose title is an anagram for auto-erotic asphyxiation or something. Whatever. The celebrity is largely irrelevant. It just seems so unlikely. I'm not mad about it. I'm just baffled by it. Maybe I'm reading to much into the thoughts of two guys I've never met who write songs about ecology and generally being decent people who don't burn down beautiful little compounds in the country.

they said the Trapped remix was a joke. check the Trapped page on BOCpages. maybe not a straight up “parody” but they remixed the song as a joke yes. cant say for certain about the midas touch, but probably a similar scenario as that would make sense.

on the other hand, like others have said, I don’t think the use of that image is “making fun of her”. am i missing something? lots of people seem to be taking that stance and i just don’t see it.

i agree, the video, and everything that’s happened recently really just doesn’t make any sense. I think that’s maybe the point though? who really knows at this point, never would I have expected a deep fake like that coming from the brothers, what will happen next is anyone’s best guess really.

Same here, we never fixed the Cosecha code right? I've been thinking about this the last few days, What if, if we fixed the Cosecha code, we would have gotten an EP out of it?

Also I don't see it as making fun of her either. It's on the level of the demonic Beatles cover of Meet The Residents than anything genuinely mean-spirited. Simply taking pop culture icons and making them evil/satanic.

That's a big part of why it was so easily dismissible as a fake (even an openly humorous fake) 7 years ago when Sheol posted the comment on my video. It was a month or less after the Whitney Houston HI remix fake that got debunked by mdg. Of course, that fake was was based on some magazine scan or something mentioning How Will I Know right? But since Sheol was so soon after the remix fake, it seems like, if it's indeed legit, they might have chosen that profile pic with the recent fake in mind, as opposed to independently of it by coincidence. Like they almost wanted it to have the trappings of a fake. If they wanted it to be more plausibly genuine they could have easily made it happen. That sounds absurd :D . But the HI fbook upload dates + Sixtyniner's XMP dates are hard to ignore, I have to say.

Never posted on here before and normally don’t post online lol.

Just curious what u guys think of this track/video:
https://youtu.be/rXUb4gdgpbI

Sounds a bit like their early stuff but music is music and anybody could have created it. Regardless, I like the song.

i considered this as well. super cool video and song anyway. the uploader responded in the comments and said this:

"As far as I know this music was never released commercially. A friend of mine in NYC and another friend of his were putting this stuff together as demo cuts back in the early 90's. This video I made and their music ran on a NYC cable tv show then. My NYC friend is kind of hard to reach at the moment, but I'll email him and ask..might be some old tapes around. JIM"

just saw this as well:

"The music was made by a guy in California, who, sorry to say has since died. He, along with my friend in NYC were in the process of producing an album..which now won't happen. I made the animation for them which ran on an NYC cable show at the time."

And yet again, you're sounding like you're already making excuses in advance. I sense this vibe in a lot of your earlier posts too. It's like you have some kind of remorse of what you did and decided to "reverse" everything by turning all into black. And now you're here putting emphasis all the time on how it could easily be dismissible as a fake. Sounds to me like you have advance knowledge. Time to come clean? The confession seat is over there.

And also this:

The creator of the video died in 2015. In his bio he says he's a radio guy in south Texas, and if you look into it, you can find articles talking about his death and remembering him. It coincides with when he stopped uploading too. What a shame, this was a really good piece.

No my friend, no confession to make. Let me ask you this -- how would I come across if I was in fact being honest? I'm just the guy who's quite intrigued by the possibility that BoC or their people or someone at the label made a weird prank version of my video but also trying not to be too gullible.

Did you take a look at Sixtyniner's find a few pages back? The image is still there if you want to verify yourself: https://f4.bcbits.com/img/0021464126_000.png

My only source for the HI bandcamp being legit is your statement that it is.

If you realllllly wanted we could get on a video chat and I can show you my gchat with a friend 7 years ago where I'm telling him about Sheol page with the assumption that it's most likely fake  recently came upon it again searching 'Sheol' in my inbox

I said that to me it's bad taste on reddit and I was downvoted like I've insulted someone.
I still think it's bad taste because to me it is disrespectful and I think that Mike and Marcus are not the kind of people who makes this stuff. Just my opinion obviously.

That was pretty compelling indeed.

In my opinion, it is not as much disrespectfull, but more dark and sinister. Some peopla just probably find inspiration from this dark stuff. It is interface from hell, afterall

Just catching up. Only BoC know why they made the Hell Interface remixes but I've always thought it's seemed pretty clear they were basically shitposting... making a banger out of something pretty naff. But like, there's no reason that has to be an entirely negative thing, you know? It's levels of irony, kind of thing. "This has dated badly but I love it and it deserves more" or something.

And yeah Whitney Houston especially in her 80s pop period totally fits with the kind of thing I can imagine them taking and giving the same treatment. Even at the time people thought it was crazy that she was being pushed to make music and present herself as this super frothy character when a) that clearly wasn't her at all, see: her actual life and the circumstances of how it went and b) she had vocal chops beyond what she was using on those records.

Whether the actual remix exists at all doesn't matter, the joke if you want to think of it that way was totally a fair target back in 1999 when that list appeared in CMJ New Music Report, over a decade before she died. It's a good enough idea people have been able to make plausible fakes of it.

She might not have been long gone by the time that picture was made but don't you think that (assuming for a second this actually is BoC doing it and not just another fake) referring back to a decade-old joke hits differently to if the whole idea of the remix had never been a thing and they just came out with it randomly a few years ago? I just can't make myself see it as disrespectful, in fact it kind of feels the opposite, like a tribute.

But yeah, all that is assuming Sheol=BoC at all and not just a fan pissing about.
