Personally I’d be surprised if BOC had any input on the release dates of remixes they have done for other labels.

Honestly, annoys me when people aren't allowed to dislike pop artists nowadays. Nothing against the actual artists themselves or their fans, (what brings them joy, brings them joy) but the music I find alternately irritating and boring. I generally listen to artists like BOC to get away from the music i hear in the public sphere.

People can like what they like, and I can like what I like. It goes both ways and there's no elitism from me personally. All music is subjective

What is this nonsense? You are zoomed into such a narrow view of their interests as artists. Did they ever have a legitimate, dedicated stalker? I'm curious, if that's the case.

SamuraiDrifter wrote:The speculation and theory-crafting is harmless by itself and if you really think it's pathetic, here's a wild idea, don't read the thread.

Where it gets ridiculous though is when people put so much faith in those wild theories that they start going all gloom and doom "BOC are finished forever I have no hope!!" when they inevitably don't come true.

This is key here. Some people are reading into how "worked up" people are getting, and I think just projecting their anxieties onto this. I mean, I'm having fun, and I'm not getting emotional about it.

This is the long view people need to embrace, otherwise stop returning to this thread.

i don’t think there is anything wrong with speculation, i agree with what SamuraiDrifter stated. and yes, they did have multiple people leak their personal information on this exact forum, more than once i believe.
no information at this moment in time

I think the last thing anyone here is worried about is feeling shame about obsessing

Idk. I often felt shameful about it and still do from time to time and I think a lot of people still do to some degree...

We're no different than paparazzies. At least they can shut off the computer and go to the pub tho so we're not that bad

I agree with this mentality. A new remix and a sign of life should be a cause for celebration! They could easily split at any given time. Daft Punk leaving is the best example that no current artist is invincible.

I fully believe this isn't the last of the surprises either. I've got faith in that.

One thing BoC got us all doing is questioning everything. I mean EVER VERY THING... They know they've started something. t's all anyone could ever do in life. Skimming stones. 4 DRY GRAMS IN SILENT DARKNESS and you'll hear all the BoC YOU NEED. They knew this WAY back. Try it

I don't mind people disliking pop music as a matter of personal taste. What I dislike is the elitist attitude that pop musicians are somehow automatically shitty and without any merit just because they're popular, and portraying fans of pop music as somehow being brainless sheep unable to appreciate "real" music. Personally I love music from all over the spectrum, from Kanye West and Billie Eilish to Godspeed You! Black Emperor to black metal, and I get really, really sick of the elitist attitude that some people exhibit towards pop music.

Also, if you listen to BoC to get away from music that appears in the public sphere, maybe no one mentioned that their songs have been used in TV shows and car commercials lol.

yea, wasn't trying to really knock on people dunking pop music from over here as well, was just messin around. I agree music is subjective, and also agree that some pop music really grabs my ear. I don't like yeezys but I can hear a Kanye song and love how well it sounds with nice headphones.

I agree with what was said above, a fresh remix is a nice reminder that they do exist and make music

I think there's now a backlash against artsy music by pop fans where they try to make you out like you're a snob because you find pop music boring or irritating. It's kind of a reverse backlash now. I think the best perspective to have is simply respect the other side, or enjoy it, rather than degenerate fans of either side. (Not that you are)

As for Boards of Canada being in the public sphere, I wish I could hear them in a department store or a fast food restaurant, but it's generally Taylor Swift type artists instead. I think having their songs in a tv show or commercial from the early 00s is not the same thing personally.

All in all though, I think it's important to simply respect forms of art you don't like because it's all subjective. If you were born a different person, you'd have a completely different set of tastes when it comes to art.

Also, I know this is super random, but the first 15 seconds (and some in between the vocals) reminds me of that Simpsons Halloween episode ‘(‘94/‘95) where Homer got trapped in 3-Dimensional land.

Personally, I think the remix might just be that--a remix. Maybe it doesn't mean anything.

It's nice they throw us a bone once in awhile.

Irrelevant but what is your profile pic? It looks so familiar but I can't put my finger on it.

Pretty sure that's the Main Control Program from Tron. Though I know they also did a South Park parody where Moses looked like that to Kyle except he was a dreidel.

Here's some new release speculation I was thinking of today. The fact they used a technically unreleased song/sample in their remix track from the early 00s, along with the Pioneer's Plague being a throwback to Music Has The Right To Children, might mean the next release is archival.

Perhaps that's the big release Warp's putting out in the fall. They always tend to release big hitting stuff in Sep-Nov.
