What is this nonsense? You are zoomed into such a narrow view of their interests as artists. Did they ever have a legitimate, dedicated stalker? I'm curious, if that's the case.SamuraiDrifter wrote:The speculation and theory-crafting is harmless by itself and if you really think it's pathetic, here's a wild idea, don't read the thread.
Where it gets ridiculous though is when people put so much faith in those wild theories that they start going all gloom and doom "BOC are finished forever I have no hope!!" when they inevitably don't come true.
This is key here. Some people are reading into how "worked up" people are getting, and I think just projecting their anxieties onto this. I mean, I'm having fun, and I'm not getting emotional about it.

This is the long view people need to embrace, otherwise stop returning to this thread.

Nothing against the actual artists themselves or their fans, (what brings them joy, brings them joy) but the music I find alternately irritating and boring. I generally listen to artists like BOC to get away from the music i hear in the public sphere.
People can like what they like, and I can like what I like. It goes both ways and there's no elitism from me personally. All music is subjective

I don't mind people disliking pop music as a matter of personal taste. What I dislike is the elitist attitude that pop musicians are somehow automatically shitty and without any merit just because they're popular, and portraying fans of pop music as somehow being brainless sheep unable to appreciate "real" music. Personally I love music from all over the spectrum, from Kanye West and Billie Eilish to Godspeed You! Black Emperor to black metal, and I get really, really sick of the elitist attitude that some people exhibit towards pop music.
Also, if you listen to BoC to get away from music that appears in the public sphere, maybe no one mentioned that their songs have been used in TV shows and car commercials lol.
