Sufjan Stevens - Video Game

"I don't care if everybody else is into it.
I don't care if it's a popular refrain.
I don't wanna be a puppet in a theatre.
I don't wanna play your video game.

You don't wanna be the one who has to pay for it.
You don't wanna be the one who has to change.
All you want is what the resumé tells you.
I don't wanna play your video game."

I really liked Moloko, but after "The time is now" I didn't hear them again, but then a few months ago I heard "Overpowered" on BBC 6 music and thought it was so inventive, and really catchy. I didn't realise Roisin Murphy was the lead singer of Moloko, but then discovered she's had a ton of solo albums, so from that one track, I've bought almost all of her albums. Her voice reminds me of Beth from Portishead so I'm listening to a lot of both of those artists atm.

This might be old to some, but it was new to me

Very clever lyricist. Amazing creative arrangements ( that acid line throughout is so good ). Brilliant voice, and so chameleonic.. The full package.

Also dug into some Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac to get some more of that Albatross era Blues. This is awesome and I've been listening to this, as well as the John Meyer Trio.

Title track from their re-birth offering. Duncan isn't a one man band but a performer at heart.

Might be of interest of any fans of the Black Jazz label (Real Gone has some really great sounding re-presses from that label available for 18-ish bucks each) -- this label though for above Strata-East a local Midwest patron of jazz, Mr. Abe Goldstein, recommended to me yesterday and true enough. Too bad so sad no recent represses from Strata-East available today and used prices are gross.

The Richard Wright-esque keyboard lines in the intro, to this silence to all riff. Happy the man.

The album feels somewhat menacing to me. Burnt Orange is a highlight for sure.
